I was under an agreement with Columbia House Music to purchase 12 cd's by January of 2005. I received a statement to pay my account in full back in August of 2003. I didn't understand this because I still had time to purchase my remaining cd's. Columbia House had even sent my account to a collection agency.

I don't understand how they had the potential for messing up my credit rating, and I can't even get them to send me my cd's that I've paid for. I paid my account in full in September of 2003. I was entitled to order five more cd's. I placed an order for three cd's back in September of 2003. Columbia House Music kept my money, and I've never been able to get my cd's.

I've received several E-Mails from Columbia House indicating that my cd's were mailed on a certain date. This has been going on since September of 2003. I've been more than patient with Columbia House, but I've had enough. Every time I send them an E-Mail concerning this matter, they keep promising me that I will receive my cd's within 4 weeks. It's been over 4 months, and I still haven't received my cd's.

They tried to get me to purchase some more cd's at a reduced price of $4.99. When they thought that I was going to send them some more money, I received the cd within 1 week. I feel that Columbia House has no intentions of sending me my cd's at all. I'm not going to give up on this matter, and I told them that I'm not going away. I'm here for the duration.

Have them mail you a copy of the "Shipping Invoice"

AUTHOR: Jacqueline - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, February 15, 2004

They claim your CD's were mailed out and received, so now they have to prove it. What was the tracking number for the CD's? What about the "Shipping Invoice"? Another necessary evidence is in your "Confirmation Billing Receipt". Now this might not be the term that they use, so I will explain.

With this type of corporation, every time you place a purchase, a confirmation billing statement explains, when it was shipped out and received. Then a payments due itemized as: subtotals per CD, combined CD total, shipping and handling, and your State tax. There is a long paper trail, as a part of standard procedure.

It might also help to contact the US Postal Inspectors, because they deal with Columbia House all the time. They know the mailing system well. Ask them which Local Post Master might have that type of information.

You did mention receiving an email, from them promising to fill your order for the CD's. I hope you saved that email, and printed it out, because that is an admission of their mistake. If not, the other options mentioned are still applicable.

If they hurt your credit history, they risk breaking the law. This would be a good time to as for a free one, or pay the $9 dollar fee. If they have blemished your record, there are consequences.

Some might say they are capable of falsifying their documents, but if you talk to your Post Master, he or she might have some pointers, on how to make sure they're legit.

Every time they claimed to mail you those CD's, did they mention a specific date? Usually, if it's true or they believe their own lie, they will polly parrot that date all over again. They will emphasize the specific date, if not, it just might be a bluff. It's just a possibility.

Don't waste time with the middle-man collection agency. Keep all negotiations between you and them. At this point, you might consider a snail mail letter, certified, signature required. It lends more evidence to your case.

Their billing records are extensive. They have inventory numbers, member account numbers, member I.D. "pin" type numbers, and shipping detail.

The other possibility is that the Post Office lost your products. If so, they have a special form you can fill out for tracking information, within their specific branch. It takes a long time, but they will eventually respond. Not sure about how long that takes or if there is a fee required.

Make them prove those CD's were sent.
