getting ready to get a Pre-Approved amount for a house and the lady helping us told us we had a blip on my credit score saying I owe Columbia House/trident asset management $133.00 back from 2010.

I have never used this company every in my life, because I saw what it does to someone in my family who had used them and that was more then 10 years ago.

I haven't been able to get ahold of anyone but seeing as how many complaints they have gotten I am pretty sure this is a ripoff and I have this blemish for no reason.

Granted it might be to late because of you buying a house, but here is what you do.  Head to freecreditreport.com to get your free credit report for the 3 major companies if you have not done so within the past 12 months to see which reports that contain the Columbia House/Trident Assest Management negative feedback on them.  Send the actual Trident Assest Management company a letter stating that you are protesting the negative feedback on your credit report.  Just make sure that you include the customer number that will be on the credit report and mail it to the address on the credit report.  Tell them to prove to you that you are protesting the negative report and to prove that you owe the money that they say that you owe, and that you want a copy of forms that you signed.  Be polite about it.  Make sure to state that only a correspondence by mail is the only way that you will do business and that a phone call is against the law, and make sure to send it certified mail with a return receipt.  If and when they state that they will remove your negative feedback, and it could take a couple of months for it to happen, do the same thing to Columbia House.  You can get a generic letter if you google something like, credit report dispute letter.  Then, hopefully Columbia House will do the same.  Make sure you safe everything you get back from both companies.  If and when they more or less state that you are correct, you can use the letters in your favor even if it still shows up on your credit reports.  Once again, it could take some time for them to remove it.  I had to do this to buy my current house.  Granted it was a bit of a hassle, but it worked out for me in the long run on more than one occassion.
