Do it all in PAPER writing, and document EVERYTHING

Carl, I wasn't aware until recently that it IS worth your time and effort to document all paperwork you send to them, stating CANCEL, and everything else, because these places can haunt a consumer with stupid results, but real results, nonetheless.

Don't do emails, WRITE THEM. State just what you said here, and state CANCEL IMMEDIATELY.

I don't know what Certified Mail costs, I looked at the USPS website and it DID say something about No Charge options, but even if it costs something, while it may seem ridiculous to spend money on this ''annoyance'', you may be so happy later on that you did, if they ignore you and deny everything and insist you signed up, etc., as they seem wont to do.

If you speak to anyone on the phone, try using a cell phone and print out the record for that month, plus noting who you speak with and all those annoying details.

I seriously did not think these clubs were an issue, but I sure seem to be WRONG about that as well. Cut it off at the start by documenting everything.

One word of caution, just cause I can't help but mention it. Please make sure you don't have a spouse or child who may have signed up!! Even if that is the case, you DO have a right to cancel, but may have to pay some sort of fee. And again, paying a fee, and getting out their system, could be the best money you spend!

Good Luck!

If they try to charge her, then it IS a rip off...DUH. They could have gotten her credit card number from another source. For instance (privacy matters123) makes a practice of selling peoples credit card numbers to savingsmart.com. Then savingsmart.com directly charges your credit card. They did it to me. So if Columbia House charges her credit card with out authorization, then don't you think that's a rip off.

How is this a rip off?

If you truly NEVER signed up for this service and they are sending you merchandise, then how is this a rip off? You cannot be held responsible for something you never signed up for. If the company does not hold proof of your signature and credit card authorization on file, they cannot expect you to pay for the merchandise. Enjoy your free DVDs.
