It is incredible that a company will take advantage of people going through hard times, but completecase.com seems to have no problem doing so.

My wife and I are separated and currently living in Peru.  We both have a legal address in the United States.  We agreed to a simple, no-fault divorce so I found completecase.com to do it.
We were married in the U.S.

I was in contact with one Jaime Decareau of Completecase.com, and I asked her upfront if we can use the service even though we are currently living in Peru.  I have this email exchange which is attached.

She did not answer the question directly, but emailed me back saying she had a few questions and we should talk via phone.  So we had a phone consultation and again I asked if we could use the service to file for divorce in the U.S. and she said YES, so I went ahead and paid the fee for the document and platinum package for a total of 553.00 dollars.

I answered the questions online in order for them to generate the needed documents.  When the docs were ready I went to a page with a lot of docs I didn't need and one doc I needed.  I emailed them asking about the other docs and they never answered me.

So Ms. Decareau explained to me that I would need the divorce docs notarized here in Peru, then sent to the U.S.  So I contacted a local Peru lawyer who said, yes, our signatures would be notarized then sent back to the U.S., but the the docs would have to have an "apostille" attached in order for them to be presented to the court.

I then informed Ms. Decareau of this and soon got the response from her that completecase.com could not handle my case and I would get a refund.

So then I get an email from completecase.com saying they would only refund me 269.00 of the total 553.00 because I had already filled out the online form and generated the documents.

I explained that Ms. Decareau stated clearly that I could use completecase.com even though my wife and I are currently in Peru, and that she obviously lied in order to take my money and get her commission.

This is not only fraud, but it also shows just how low and debased these people are.  And of course they know it is a relatively small amount of money, so hiring a lawyer is not cost effective to get the full refund.  Who knows what kind of scams they might pull on other people.
