As a former employee at Composite Engineering (also known as CEI) I saw it all. CEi is a Government Contractor, and let me tell you if the Government knew what I know they would not be in business very long! It's a private company owned by Mike and Amy Fournier. And let me tell you these two especially Amy Fournier ("the president") is a tyrant. Beware; do not work for this company!! They are constantly losing staff, firing people for no reason at all, and have Managers in key position that are no where near qualified. They are constantly advertising for positions, because they can not hold on to anyone.

My first day of employment with CEi they fired 15 people in one day. That's what they call a "lay-off". Yet a week later they promote other staff to replace them. What kind of company fires 15 people, call it a lay-off, and them replaced them all by promoting people into their position? They recently hired a VP of Supply Chain only to let him go 2 months later. They hire HR staff; and yet can not keep them. Their HR Dept is such a joke. They have the HR manager Lisa in place running a staff she can never keep. Also running a staff that can't stand her. Lisa is one of the many managers who is in her position with out any degree or real experience. The whole company is a joke. Please beware that the things I have said are not even a fraction of the craziness that goes on at this joke of a Company. Composite Engineering also known as CEi is one of the Shadiest companies here is Sacramento. Also anyone thinking about taking a management position with them BEWARE!

As a Manager you ought to be able to make decisions without any approval right? NOT AT CEI. Even to purchase a new chair for your office you need approval from the President Amy. As a "Manager" you are not able to make decisions what so ever. They also have absolutely no women as part of their Management team which is really sad. I've departed now from CEi, and I want all to know that this is not the company to work for. If you want stability, if you want growth, if you want to work in a fair and stable environment this company is not the place for you. And to the current 210 revolving employees still working at Composite Engineering RUN, RUN as fast as you can!!

#2 UPDATE EX-employee responds

The virtual company

AUTHOR: Seasoned Engineering Professional - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, May 26, 2010

Some things don't change.  As another former employee I can say the previous complaint is valid and universal throughout the company.  Essentially the company is made up of several departments that on paper look official.  The reality is that 6 people, the select few, perform all the engineering and the designs are primarily stolen from older designs of other companies. Mike and Amy are driven people alright but at the expense of the professionals they hire.  The management team is made up of yes men and women who do not stand up for the employees underneath them.  The previous complaint is correct.  If you come into contact with this company run the other way.

CEi, Not Perfect but a Good Place to Work

AUTHOR: Ex-employee - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 13, 2007

I too am an ex-employee of CEi and completely disagree with this little rant. I worked there for several years and only left because it was a long commute. While it is true they have had lay-offs, this is the nature of business. Look at Boeing, GM, Ford, IBM and guess what, they do a lay-off and move people around to fill key positions.

I will say this, if you are lazy or incompetent this is not the place for you because they will let you go in a hurry. If you talk a big story but don't deliver, you will not last long at CEi. If you are dedicated and willing to work hard CEi can be a fun and exciting place to work. Mike and Amy are very smart and driven people and have grown the company from less than 10 people to over 200 in ~12 years. Trust me, this is no easy task and they have certainly had some growing pains, but what company doesn't.

Do they do everything perfect? Probably not, but not because they don't try. Understand the aerospace industry is very complex and this small company has taken on some huge tasks. We are talking about a small company that competes toe to toe with Boeing, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon etc. and wins! How do they do this? Hard work and being very responsive to their customers.

You may ask why I took the time to respond to this. It is because I thoroughly enjoyed working at CEi, and have nothing but respect for Mike and Amy and what they have accomplished! These are good people and don't deserve to be trashed like that.
