I saw advertisement on TV.  It sounded great so I called them.  They did not give me any billing imformation during the call. They gave me my phone number. The exchange number was in the capital city of my province. They told me that was the only exchange number they could give me. 

I received my first billing online and it said the amount was $0.  They had advertised 6 months free so I assumed it was the first 6 months.  The next month I received another online invoice and again it said $0.  As I looked at it, assuming it was the second free month, all of a sudden, another amount came up, $50.00.   As the billing was supposed to be $14.95 a month, I pulled up the entire invoice and saw I was getting billed at different amounts for a lot of my calls.  

I sent them an email and told them that they were dishonest by billing me extra for some of my calls and I did not want to deal with dishonest companies, so please cancel my account, and send me their address so I could return their equipment and I would pay them $14.95 for each of the two months I had their service. Their only response was to bill my credit card $50.00.  I got another billing invoice this week and again it said, $0.

In the meantime I disconnected their modem and signed up with a regular phone service. I also went on the internet and found numerous complaints about this company. I found out that if you try to return the equipment, they  give you a false Box number address in Downsview, Ontario, and then  they tell you that they didn't receive the equipment.  They then try to charge you $250 for the equipment.  Because I saw these complaints I have not returned their equipment and see no point in doing so, until I get some kind of assurance that they will acknowledge receipt of their equipment.  

I have not phoned them as I saw from the numerous complaints that it does not do any good to talk to them as there is never a satisfactory response to your call.

Apology to Comvave Telephone

After reviewing all the information given to me by Comwave, it seems that I was mistaken when I signed up for their services.

I am 71 years old and am having the same memory problems that come with getting older.  I was shown invoices and statements that affirmed that I did indeed sign up for Comwave services according to their policies.

I do not remember much of what they told me today but I  know now that the $50 fee that I complained about was actually the charge for the telephone equipment.  I also found out that I unknowingly signed up for a 3 year contract.  I must have been daydreaming because I hate contracts and would never have knowingly agreed to it.

I am still at a loss as to why I was given a telephone exhange from a city 60 miles from where I live.  This caused those who called me from the town where I live to have long distance calls on their bill, everytime they called me. Fortunately, they had a long distance plan within our province so they did not have to pay it.

The fault was definitely mine for not getting the information in writing and not having a family member go over everything with me.  I apologize to Comwave and their owners for believing all those false reports on Rip-Off and the numerous complaints on Google.

I did not realize that there were so many crooked people that would file false claims against the most successful VOIP company in the country
