I saw a lot of bad reviews around the internet for a credit card company I have used for over a year, Credit One.  I was surprised to see that the company had not one decent, fair review so I decided to write my experience with the company and offer tips to others who have had bad experiences with them.  This was 2 weeks ago.  My review was pending for a long time when supposedly the review time is only a few days a most.  Then I began to see more negative reviews written after the date I submitted mine 11-12-15 and my suspicions began to rise.  After 2 weeks, I checked my review status again today and now its ON HOLD while more negative reviews about this company continue to pour in and post immediately.  I have not received a single notification one way or the other why my review is ON HOLD.  I have sent any inquiry why my review is not posted and received no response to that either.  I decided perhaps its time Consumer Affairs had a review of their own for their questionable reporting of businesses.  I think its completely useless to consumers to see only one biased view of companies.  People should be able to see all the reviews and make their decisions as to which reviews are most credible.

My Two Cents...

AUTHOR: Robert - (USA)

I looked at this site and I looked at your review and noticed some very interesting items.

First of all they do have several 4-5 star reviews so they are not blocking them as a rule.  Yes, there are many more negative reviews, but in reality that is expected as you get more people to complain than to compliment.

Next is that if you look at the reviews on that site and then compare your review.  Your review is anywhere from 2-3 times in length every other review I saw.  So while it may not be saying anything wrong, the length may be an issue.

In what I saw, you could probably get the same point across by doing some serious editing of your review.  For example talking about how you could use the card to handle short term needs, or how you use it for business expense is really meaningless in terms of this card.  That could apply to ANY card as a general statement.  So should it be included in a review for this card?

Then you have to figure what you mean by a "5-Star" rating.  To most people they would think that is a perfect item without a single flaw(or perhaps a very minor flaw).  Yet you talk about how Customer Service could be impatient and how you wouldn't use them on a "questionable" site.  To many people Customer Service and Fraud protection are two of the biggest factors in selecting a credit card and you are knocking them on this.  So how can you justify a 5-Star rating?  Perhaps 3 possibly 4, but 5?

Then just a minor point, a $400 to $750 jump in your credit limit is not having it doubled.

So while am not trying to be your editor, and the reality is I have no idea why your post on that site is being reviewed.  These are things you may want to consider and if it doesn't get posted to try again after you put your review on a diet and trim some of the fat out of it.

My Original Review Submitted to Consumer Affairs

AUTHOR: - ()

POSTED: Saturday, November 28, 2015

I don't see a way to submit an image of my original review submitted to Consumer Affairs so I am reposting it here for all to see the reason I am so baffled it has not been approved.

"I have had my Credit One account for over a year now and my credit limit has been doubled from $400 to $750. This company is different than other big bank credit cards because you really need to understand how to utilize and manage credit accounts in order to maximize the benefits. First of all the interest rates are higher than most banks. That is only a problem if you plan on carrying over the balance for a long time. You need to know what you are using the card for and can you pay it down within the billing cycle to prevent interest charges or not. For instance, an emergency comes up, you need cash but payday is not for another week and your cashflow is tapped. Credit One Visa to the rescue! Or another scenario I have used the card for is reimbursable expenses. The company uses my resources to finance business expenses and reimburses me for the in my checks. Do I want to use my cash for those expenses? Hell no! I use my Credit Once Visa which also keeps a transaction record of these expenses and pay them off after I receive my reimbursement funds. The actual interest rate I end up paying is the minimum which is always less than $10 per month even after they doubled my credit limit. I see a lot of bad reviews for this credit card and the customer service that are actually not the company's fault. I have spoken to customer service on rare occasion like finding out when my payments would post and my balance available etc. They are a little impatient with amateurs, but they know what they are doing and you should do your homework before contacting them. Often, while they have me on hold to look at my account I figure out whatever was puzzling me. I have never had an issue arise with my card being refused, or unauthorized charges etc. I think some people just should not use credit cards, they are like whiskey to Indians! You need to know your limits and use them wisely. My credit score has jumped up almost 200 points partly in credit due to my relationship with this company. If I am making a transaction online with a company I'm not familiar with and there is a potential of dispute with the transaction, I don't use this card. Not because they couldn't handle it if a problem arose but because I have credit cards with other companies like Capital One whose representatives are used to a lot of disputes and it doesn't phase them when you say you took a chance with this new company online... Bottomline is shop around for your cards like anything else, there is no one size fits all. I have had good credit relationships with some companies and bad credit relationships with others for one reason or another it wasn't a good fit for me. I do not go around sullying their reputation I just move on to another company that I like. Good Luck!"  ***** 5 Stars
