Bought product from the Local Store as a Christmas Gift for a child.

14 days after purchase ,opened the product and discovered it was defective. Attempted to return on the 14th day under the information given by the Employee. She stated that we had 14 days to return w/receipt for a cash refund and after 14 days w/o receipt for exchange or store credit.

Assistant Manager Consumer Depot Employee asked who gave us that information. We advised it was a female. He stated he knew exactly who she was and that she only "worked up front to help out during the Holidays." He stated she worked "in the back in Customer Service" ???!!!
He then proceeded to state that he didn't believe that she would have said that, but he wasn't calling us a liar.
He stated that "if we had another product to exchange I would go ahed and give it to you" but he refused to give us a store credit.

He went on to say that he knew that we had purchased the product there but with out the receipt he couldn't do anything, smiling smugly as he knew we were getting angrier.

We stated that when we purchased the product we had to give a large amount of personal information and when we asked what the information was for we were advised by the female employee during the original transaction that it was to ensure we would be "in their system" if we needed an exchange WITHOUT a receipt. When we asked if he would look up the information the assitant manager refused.

We then asked for the Store manager, Rick, and he basically said the same information, that without a receipt he refused to do ANYthing to resolve the problem and that he "couldn't look us up in the computer without a customer number"

At this point we gave up, took the defective product and walked out.

This company basically did the following:
1. Admitted that they had uninformed employees selling merchandise.
2. Called their 'consumers' liars
3. Admitted that they KNEW that the product came from their store.
4. Offered an exchange "if they had had the product available".
5. Refused a store credit because there was no receipt (for a Christmas Gift)
6. Belittled their consumers
Refused any resitution at ALL!

Forgot to mention that we offered to give them a copy of bank stament showing when purchased, what was purchased, amount of purchase, date of purchase and that the product was indeed purchased from "consumer Depot". They refused stating they needed THEIR receipt to file a return!
