Cottman Transmission ripoff Shawnee Oklahoma

My husband took in our 1992 Dodge Dakota for a free transmission check because the transmission was slipping. Originally it was supposed to take 2 hours to check, but the clerk insisted on keeping it over night to mic the transmission for $175 and to call back the next day. And then my husband told him that he only had about $800 to spend on a transmission.

My husband then agreed to the $175 micking of the transmission, and called back the next day. The clerk then told my husband it wasn't ready to call back in a few days. So, again my husband agreed to that and waited over a weekend. When he did get back in touch with Cottman, the clerk said he had already rebuit our transmission and we owed him around $1800.

I called back a few days later and asked how much to the penny we owed him. The clerk quoted me a price of $1962.63. I went to the shop later that day and tried to give him $175. He told me that he woudn't take that amount, and that he wanted the whole amount, before we could have our truck.

Since we didn't give him permission to rebuild our transmission, we believe that we shouldn't have to pay him. But he insists that we do. It has now been 2 months since they have had our truck and we received a letter in the mail saying he wants $881 for parts, $1040 for labor and $7.50 a day for storage. We have until the 4th of December before he sales our truck in an action. Needless to say, we have a law suit against him. Under no circumstances would I reccomend that anyone use Cottman's Transmission.
