Where to even begin with this mess of a company...
Let's start with the hiring process. I signed on to be a detailer, they liked my resume, called me a few hours after the interview and offered me the job. Neat. So, the next day I arrive and the lot has... some things left to be desired. Trash, cigarette butts everywhere, cars not lined up in any discernable pattern. Didn't really look like anyone had "managed" the lot in quite some time, and this was just day one. I meet up with the boss, fill out some HR forms and tax forms, and we're rolling! Literally! Off to another dealership to pick up some cars... Now, these weren't the best cars I had ever seen.
Hell, they were some of the worst. Beaten down old BMW's, ruined trucks, the works. But, bought 'em, drove em back. And here's the fun part: Sight unseen, these were sent through "detail" - Now, here's what detail consisted of to these people:
Is it supposed to be black but it's fading? Spray paint. Are the wheels chipped\chipping? Spray paint. Oh, the wipers look old? (I s*** you not - I had to do this twice) Spraypaint! Foggy headlights? Rub some a\t fluid in there until they're crystal clear! They drove it off the lot and it looks like s***? Clearly their fault!
Spots on the interior? Why steam clean them when - you gussed it - special carpet-based Spraypaint! It was awful. As far as I could tell we had no mechanics. No one actually looked at the cars to do any kind of real service, no lifts or bays of any kind. Detail area, body work area, that's it. No mechanical check or inspection was done on ANY of the vehicles sold on that lot - Despite what they told their customers.
And boy, what a story do they tell their customers. Fully repaired! Never been wrecked! Non-smoker clean cars! 0 issues! In-house-financing! Load of s**t, the lot of it. The cars were never repaired, at most they had their CEL's turned off. When customers would call in\come back to complain, some were point blank told by the owner that "We got your business, and we don't want it again, now get out."
I personally went along on three individual trips where we picked up cars from other dealers. Cars that barely ran, cars that shouldn't be driven, and... lo and behold, clean it up, and then out on the lot they go! Being a detailer in a dealership, you're often the "Lot b****" and they weren't afraid to let you know! Some random customer dumped oil in the parking lot? Your turn to clean it up with barely-supplied tools and materials, so make due!
Now here's the kicker: This company has four lots, technically. One in Merriam, one in Olathe, and two in down-town Merriam. The two in old down town house their absolute worst, bottom-of-the-barrel, should-have-been Cash For Clunker'd cars. And they actively sell them. This lot's behind a shitty little wooden gate and a side building that the owner got from who knows where.
The second lot down town is where the old Kia dealership used to be, big empty building, that is also now a skate park. There's a warehouse here where the owners keep all the toys they fancy. Porsche 911's, boats, an old VW Bug, a ProStock drag car, a Lexus SC430 that the owner drove, things like that. Now, this is where the actual "Shop" was - where they'd "send" a car if anything was wrong. And this is also where bare-minimum services would be performed, and people would get their cars back with just as many, if not more issues, than orginally brought in for.
Another gem from this place, I had the honor of dealing with two rather... drugged out looking individulas who came in to buy a car. The dealership "bought" their trade-in, and then advised them they weren't elligible for financing, and offered to sell their car back to them for a considerable mark-up. I s*** you not. I had to drive these poor people, literally poor people, back to their house down town, in some company rental, taking all the abuse these dishelved individuals could heap on me for representing such a s***** company.
The ONLY customers this dealership treats decently are the loaded ones. People in for the G-Wagen and the Porsche 911 or the SLK on the lot - Which hilariously the dealer has a specific side of the building dedicated to the cars that actually run. It's a little tiny strip beside the east wall.
The long and short of it is this: This dealership lies to people, gives them bottom dollar for their trade in, lies to their faces, and then pretends none of it ever happened. They will lie, steal and rip you off, whether or not you're buying from them or working for them. And now I'm sure that Bogdan and Josh and Danny will all come in here disputing this, giving their standard "Well for 28 years now we've been blah blah blah! And HERE's my PHONE NUMBER! So we can argue on the phone!" - Danny, no one wants your phone number. And if they did, it's all over every review site you respond to.
How sad is that you actively receive alerts when you get a bad review? And then immediately dispute them? Just face the truth, the business your father helped build is a scammy, sham of a dealership, and needs a serious overhaul.
I will commend you this, Danny & Management team: Whoever you've hired for PR does a hilariously good job. You scam and crook and swindle your way through the year, and then you give away a free car for what, 5k tops? Oh boy a tax write off! And then suddenly 94.9 has your good graces and plays your advertisements, and the cycle continues.
