I was employed for covenant from nov 04 till feb 06. My first year there in the winter the truck I had the opt idle didn't work and always shutdown after 3 mins. told breakdown they kept saying finish this run then well route u to a shop. That never happened slept all winter in a very cold truck. on occasion I would get a hotel they said they pay for it. Never did.

The first 2 dispatchers I had we horrible they didn't care a spit about you, and anytime you questioned them you would sit for days then they will give you a load of 30 mile deadhead and 100 loaded, then sit again. That was all sucked until I got on the regional then things got a lil better. and I mean a very small little better.

I am still calling them and trying to get the $350.00 lumper fee they owe me, the $160 motel cost when THEIR truck was in the shop. I could go on for a lot longer but I will just save my time of typing and your time of reading. Just take this advise. STAY AWAY FROM COVENANT.

Jason...you allowed them to get away with it.

Jason,

Did you know that having no heat is a grounding item? You could have put that truck out of service, LEGALLY. You could have just stopped at any scalehouse and explained it to the DOT man.

Why would you pay lumpers out of your own pocket?
You should have INSISTED on a Com-Check for this if the company ordered the lumpers. Did you have authorization from the company to pay lumpers?

Did you know that according to FEDERAL LAW it is the legal responsibility of the reciever to pay for lumpers or provide manpower to unload the truck? [Unless prior agreements have been made].

ALWAYS stay far away from any company that promotes religion. Religion is irrelevant to the business at hand. Most of the "Christian" businesses I have seen in my 42 years have been the biggest phonies and crooks out there.

Did you know that retaliation by an employer or employers representative is illegal? Did you keep a log of these events?

Any company driver should keep a continuous log of events from day to day, like a diary. It will save your a*s in court, or make your day in front of the DOT or the Labor Board. I just kept a spiral notebook on the dash. I recorded everything.

Again, on the motel charges with the broken truck, COM-CHECK!!

We all make our own choices. You made yours.

Good luck!
