I bought my car through a dealer in Southern Illinois, Since day one I have had nothing but problems with this company. The calls start on the day the loan payment is due, even though it is not late. One month I got 9 calls from them, I called, the person who answered the phone could not be understood, I asked several times for someone who could speak English, the next person was not much better and I asked for a supervisor. a male got on the phone and started belittling me, that I should make my payment on time and I should know better. I advised this person that for one, my payment was not late and has never been late. And that 9 calls in a period of several hours was harassment. He chuckled and said they will keep calling till the payment is made, I gave him the date and check number. (it was posted to my account the next day). I told him that I better not get another call or I was calling the main office and the better business. He said I would not get a call again today, a hour latter, guess what, I got another call.
Every month it's the same thing, calls start on the date the payment is due, and I will get 2-3 calls a day.
I called them one day and asked about interest being reduced since I have made my payments and I was told "NO" that I will just have to pay the rate.
I am contacting the dealer and filing a complaint with them, I doubt it will do anything but it will help ease some of my anger.
To anyone reading this, if you getting a loan and they say it is with Credit Acceptance, think twice before signing.

ROBERT FOR SEEING WHAT WE DEAL WITH EVERYDAY // THEY SWEAR I MEAN SWEAR THAT THEY ARE NOT LATE AND THEY ARE. THEY DONT READ THE TERMS OF THEIR CONTRACT AND THEY CRY LIKE WE DID SOMETHING WRONG . nOW i WILL ADMIT THAT WE OFFER HIGH APRS BUT THEY SIGNED THEIR NAME TO THE DOTTED LINE ACCEPTING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE CONTRACT WITHOUT READING IT. IM GLAD THAT SOMEONE ELSE BESIDES THEIR CREDITOR IS POINTING THIS FOOLISH BEHAVIOR OUT TO THEM BESIDES US.

Never late or never over 10 days late?

Which is it Jon?
""I have been a Credit Acceptance customer for nearly a year and a half, and we have NEVER been late with our payment.""
If true, then why did you post the following in a rebuttal to ROR 408451?
http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/0/408/ripoff0408451.htm
""The only complaint I have is that I will pay the payment either on time or within a day or two of due date, and for three or four days after payment is confirmed as being received, their customer service people still call me asking for their money""
It appears to me that you've made one or more payments late.
""We have never been so much as 10 days late with these guys, we've had the car since February 2008, and they treat us like we dont pay them. We're actually looking at paying them off early, and the sooner the better.""
Late is late Jon, even if it's only ONE day late. No auto loan has a grace period unless the loan agreement specifically states so. Normally what will happen when folks make some late payments is that the additional INTEREST (for being late) is added to the balance of the loan. This causes a big surprise for folks when they think their loan is payed off because they made XX number of payments, only to be told that there is still an outstanding balance on the loan-sometimes several hundred dollars.

it is not only when payment is late....

I too have a loan with these folks. I have on many occasions paid the monthly payment before the due date and I still get harassed for three days after the due date. Last month, some guy called and actually called me a liar. So, I pulled up the confirmation email and read off the confirmation number to him to show that payment was truly made. Keep this in mind, I have been a Credit Acceptance customer for nearly a year and a half, and we have NEVER been late with our payment. EVen when payment is confirmed to have been received BY THEM, they still call me 9 times a day demanding payment. When I read off that confirmation number to the guy on the phone, he actually told me that this number doesnt mean anything, that I could have just pulled it out of my back side, and that since his computer says I didnt pay then I clearly didnt pay. Two days later I was still getting phone calls from them. Simply put their system sucks. They need to come up with a better system for taking payments. We live in a world where you can pay for things instantly, with credit card, debit card, over the phone or online....and yet these guys still take payments like we're back in 1987 or something.

Late Payment..

Actually you were late. There is no grace period for Auto Loans, that is if the payment is due on the 1st and you pay it on the 2nd you were 1 day late. So if they call ON the due date and they get the payment the next day you were late. Now, what most people confuse being late with is the penalty date. This is the date where they assess late payment fees. This date is generally between 5-15 days after the Due Date.
These people are a Sub-Prime lender. That is they deal with people who have less than perfect credit. So they are going to be a bit more agressive on making sure that they get paid. There is an easy way to avoid these calls. Adjust your payment schedule to pay them before the due date, even getting it there 1 day in advance. As for getting a lower rate, no bank will lower the rate on their loan. In order to do this you need to refianance the car with another bank. But you have to have a good enough history to be able to get approved for the new loan. If you do great..you can be free of this bank.
