This is a letter to Cricket cell phone company , I wrote and sent to two different offices, and never got a reply.
This explains the whole rip off to me and my granddaughter. Cricket doesn't care about anyone, that is why you can NEVER get to talk to a live person. Cricket needs to be stopped. They got this grandmother for over $300.00 that I really don't have to waste!

Someone help, here's the story...

Letter to Cricket,
You are the only email I found...I sent a letter to the CEO/President of Leap...Please forward this on to whomever should receive it. Thank you.
I have written you once already, over a month ago, and
have not heard back from anyone.
Summary:

I was a customer. On March 14th went in to
the store or there abouts, and purchased a phone and accessories for my granddaughter for her birthday and added her to my bill.
INcluded in the over $220 dollars I spent, was the retro till the next month.

April bill came to me the next week, so I went into the store to pay it. They told me they could not take my money. They wrote on a scrap piece of paper the address to mail it to, I believe in Texas. I then mailed it.
Since Cricket is a PRE pay service...if you Dont pay you dont get service, on the 5th I believe or 7th, my phone was shut off along with my granddaughters which was humiliating and embarrassing..

I went into the store and showed them my reciept from my money order, as my husband refuses to pay for this, I do it by money order instead of our checking account..(he doesnt believe in cell phones, he thinks they are a waste of money).

The kid in the store called the payment center and found that I indeed did pay and it was a mistake, so they turned my phones back on, and told me I would get a rebate of $5.00 on my next months bill, for my trouble.
The bill for May came on April 12th, so to NOT have any more embarrassing problems, I got my money order that day, and mailed it that same day...

Going on with life as usuall thinking all is well, going into May, AGAIN on the 5th or 7th BAMMMM Cricket AGAIN shut my phone off and the granddaughters as well....
I go once again to the store, and produce my reciept for paying this bill early on the 12th of April and mailing it early.

I am really angry at this point for AGAIN being shut off...
The manager, not the kid, looked on his screen and says"
This receipt is for April dated April 12th.

I said NO..Then proceeded to tell him how I was shut off and then turned back on on the 5th or 7th....WHY THEN would they SEE I did in FACT PAY, for APRIL, and turn me back on?? This receipt is for MAY, dated April 12th!!! If it was in fact for APRIL, they wouldnt have turned me back on 6 days prior to the 12th!! in which your office would not have even received until possibly the 20th of April anyway!!
LOGIC....simple logic.....

He insisted it was for April and would not restore my service or my granddaughters.

We happen to have just sold our home and were and still are in transition, waiting for the completion and closing of our newly built home, and I could not find any other paperwork.

I WAS LIVID!!!! Your manager was soo rude, and I was so embarrassed in front of all the people in there I screamed that you were a bunch of cheaters.
Which brings me to a question, how come YOU are the ONLY cellular company in all of Phoenix who feels the need to have a security guy in your establishment?? Could it just be that you SCREW and CHEAT so many people they get THAT angry???? Imagine , me a grandmother THAT angry???? Thats what your cheating does to people.... and you sit back in your easy chair making millions cheating people???? How can you sleep at night for Gods sake?
Logic, if I hadnt paid for April, I wouldnt have had service til May 5th would I ? You ARE pre pay and if I didnt pay my April bill, I wouldnt have had service!!!!!!

Since then, I have found a letter from your company dated before the 12th of April, however in the month of April, because of the first MISTAKE on YOUR part, telling me that my account is in good standing and paid up. Which means, then, the receipt that I have for after that letter, WAS indeed for my next months payment, as I said.

MY grandaughter and I have been without phones since this happened and she keeps asking me when he phone will work, the poor child paid $100 of her own money to help buy it....NOT ONLY THAT..
We were due a $130 rebate for our phones, and your company sent me a letter saying since I DEFAULTED ON THE SERVICE, I will NOT be receiving my REBATE!!!

I didn't default, YOU defaulted!!!
YOU need to make this right....You need to reconnect this service immediately, give us our rebate, and also I'd say at the LEAST, a free month for what you have done, and the embarrassment and stress you have caused me.

If I do NOT hear from you this time, I will then take my receipts, a copy of both letters I have written to you, the letter from your company and broadcast this.
Cricket is a great service for people who don't pay their bills, who are your main clientel I do believe, but there are MANY nice, respectable people, with great credit, like myself, who use a service such as yours for the same reason I do, that I only need local and want all the time I can get!

I am fed up with your cheating me, and oh my God, how many others..then ignoring me like I am nothing, nobody, or someone you can just cheat and get away with it....I assure you, you have no idea how relentless I am.
You need to make this right for you are wrong here, very wrong.
SINCERELY,
Deborah

This is an odd statement....

AUTHOR: Magic - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, December 06, 2004

Debbie: "(Since Cricket is a PRE-pay service)...if you Dont pay you dont get service."

Magic: We already cleared up the Pre-pay subject about Cricket. VERY FEW customers of Cricket still have Pre-pay/pay-in-advance accounts. What I want to address is the last half of that above sentence. If I'm not mistaken, I don't know ANY cell phone service that you can NOT pay for and still have service month and after month. The ONLY time that MIGHT happen is if you are on a service CONTRACT/AGREEMENT.

Sometimes other cell phone companies will let you rollover your bill month after month. Why? Because you know about that "early termination fee" if you decide not to pay for your service. That way, if you decide not to pay, they'll charge you that fee IN ADDITION TO what you owe them, and in some contracts, they even include the prorated phone cost for the amount of time that you didn't fulfill in the contract/agreement you made. So really, Cricket is NOT as bad as you may think. Remember, there are NO MORE contracts with Cricket's service.

I think I understand what you mean by your statement, but I'm addressing it from a purely literal standpoint, so please don't get offended.

As for the check, we can ALWAYS do a payment research for the payment if it hasn't reached your account in 10 days after you sent it off by mail, and if the payment is found, we will gladly waive any late/reinstatement fees associated with the payment.

Jack is right...

AUTHOR: Magic - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, December 05, 2004

First of all, I apologize for all the trouble you've had with your service.

I would call the rebate service center at 1-888-326-6178 to see what they can do concerning your rebates. We can then take a look at the account and do payment researches to see when payments were received/posted to the account.

As for payment options, you have quite a few. I'll expalin the free options up to the "fee" options:
1) FREE - pay through our automated system using a check or major credit/debit card (just follow the prompts given), or on the Cricket website (www.mycricket.com)...posts within 15-30 minutes to your Cricket Account.
2) $3.00 - pay at any Authorized Payment Location. Posts within 30 min. - 1 hour (sometimes up to 24 hrs) to your Cricket account.
3) $5.00 - Pay at a Full Service/Retail Cricket Store (that takes payments) or through a Customer Service Representative at the Customer Service Center (611 from cell phone, or 1800CRICKET or 1866CRICKET).

Jack is also correct that Cricket is NOT a pre-paid service anymore. We USED to have pay-in-advance accounts, but we did away with that almost 2 years ago. Only about 5% of our customers still have these types of accounts. All new accounts or accounts activated or reactivated in the last 2 years have become post-pay accoounts. If we were TRUE "pre-paid" wireless, we would make you buy pre-paid cards for service. In essence, we are a month-to-month service, like that of "nationwide" wireless carriers, but with the main feature of landline service: unlimited local calling.

Just A Clarification to clear up a common misconception

AUTHOR: Jack - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, September 24, 2004

Hello--
Didn't want to split hairs; some of the treatment you have received sounds terrible. But, wanted to clear up a common misconception:

Cricket is not a pre-pay/pay-in-advance service.

I see a lot of reports on here purporting, "Because Cricket is pre-pay..." this or that, but it's a little more complicated. If you have Activated/Reactivated service, or moved from city to city in the last two years (almost), you pay for your service at the end of the month, after you have used it. If you have maintained your service over two years, you may still pay in advance.

Also, I understand problems with billing. There are, however, other options. If the first money order order you sent arrived late, maybe a money order is not the best mode of payment. You could try a payment location, which posts your payment within 24 hours.

Another common complaint is the "high" cost of phones, and difficulty with the rebate. While I understand that some customers truly deserve the rebate and have trouble receiving it, many do not read the terms of the rebate closely before submission. Read the terms carefully. There are several things that have to be done to qualify for the rebate, as with any rebate. On the "high" cost of phones as compared to other carriers; Other carriers ordinarily require you to commit 1 - 2 years in exchange for the phone. That's a guarantee that the company can count on 1 - 2 years of revenue, under penalty of an exorbitant termination fee. Cricket does not require you commit for ANY length of time; it would not be in their interest to discount the phone for someone that may cancel the service in two months, or be unable to keep up a monthly payment.

All of that said, I hope your troubles are resolved.
