I was contacted by Curtis Brown in May of 2013 saying I was referred to him in seeking an investor.  After discussing my project and having him sign an NDA he told me that he had several investors already interested in investing $200k and assured me that he could raise the additional $300k I was seeking. 

In order to do this I would need a PPM and other documents.  I said I would contact my attorney to get the papers drawn up.  He said that I would need to use his services for this as he has all the proper paperwork and all I needed to do was give him is all the info he needed specifically about my company.  The charge would be $5,000.  I said that I couldn't afford that and would have to pass.

I get a call back saying that he thought the project was so good and that he knew he could raise the money he would take a small percentage once we got funded and only charge me $2,000 to get everything done.  That's when I bit and wired him the money.

We went back and forth on getting the paperwork done properly as they kept making mistakes. When all the paperwork was complete and I thought we were ready to fund he said that one of the investors took on another project and he'd have to look for funding from some other people, always reasuring me that he was working hard and he would make it happen.

Of course there were lot's of conversations and excuses over a few months and nothing ever materialized and then no return calls. In the end I was a sucker and it cost me $2,000.
