I placed an order with Customized Girl after receiving an email promotion of "buy one, get one free" on customized tees. I ordered a tee with jewels on the front and one line of script on the back. My total arrived at about $60, but should have been about $45.

I called the company and the rep went over my order and realized I had not chosen the free shipping option. With the help of the rep, I changed the shipping and my order total came to $45.97. I submitted the payment and a screen appeared simply noting that my order was confirmed.

The next day, when I opened my email, there was a receipt confirmation for my Customized Girl order and the amount charged was $65.97. I called the company upon seeing the $20 upcharge but received no call back until I called the company 3 days later.

Upon calling the company, the representative explained that I was charged for the jewels and script on the back of the free shirt which caused the $20 upcharge. I explained that the final amount due shown on the order screen when confirming my order was $45.97. I informed the rep that the advertised cost should be what I was charged and not $65.97. I then asked for the manager. I spoke to the manager, Melissa, who listened to the problem and said that if I had no proof, there was nothing she could do. I informed Melissa that I was on the phone when I finalized my order and that the rep could confirm what I saw on the screen. I gave her the name of the rep and she said she could not honor the $45.97.

I let Melissa know that this was bad business, false advertisement and fraud. When I told her that I could report her to the BBB, she said that she was going to cancel my order.  I asked her not to cancel the order as I would go ahead and pay the $20 surcharge as I was on time constraints. She said "No, I am cancelling your order." I said, "It is my request for you not to. She said, "Ok" and hung up.

Fast forward to 12 days later...I called Customized Girl to check on my order as I had not received it yet. The rep informed me that my order had been cancelled. I explained to the rep that this should not be the case. She looked in the notes from my order and said that I had spoken to the manager Melissa and asked me to hold.  Melissa picked up and explained that she had cancelled my order, even when I asked her not to because I was unhappy. Unbelievable!

I was waiting on my order to arrive and did not know Melissa had cancelled it. She told me that I had received a refund, which I was unaware of. I looked over my bank account and a refund had indeed been credited on November 26, 2010, 4 days ago without my knowledge. I asked Melissa how she could cancel my order without my authorization and she said "Because you were unhappy and planning to report me to the BBB." I told her that I had not planned on doing so, but since I was waiting on my order that was cancelled without my authorization, I would indeed do so. Melissa hung up on me.

Basically, I feel like Melissa should have honored the charge of $45.97 as the final screen showed that I would be charged when I placed my order on November 18, 2010. Instead of doing the right thing, she cancelled my order without my knowledge. I did not know such rudeness existed amongst company executives that depend on consumer business to thrive. I would not suggest anyone do business with Customized Girl.

Always Right

AUTHOR: Sarah - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, September 24, 2011

Coming from someone who works in the Customer Service industry the first three reports do not sound like they were written by the employees of the company. It sounds like they were written by people like me because it's exactly what I'm thinking sometimes when I'm dealing with obnoxious customers, I just don't say it outloud.

Customers seem to think that they are always right. No matter what. They open boxes with knives and when they damage their merchandise they freak out and think that's somehow our fault and we should replace the item. Maybe you shouldn't be stabbing a sharp object into a box that has your brand new dress in it? Or they call us up and think that just because they're calling they deserve a discount and they're somehow shocked when we say no. Do you think your better than every other person ordering from us?

It sounds to me like the company should have a disclaimer stating that the actual t-shirt was an additional 50% off but the embellishment was not included. More than likely, I would say there was one but the customer failed to see it. I've worked retail for many years as well and when there were sales the signs would say, "Prices starting at $12.88" but no one ever paid attention to the words and just assumed the entire rack was $12.88. Customers do not pay attention and when they mess something up they always think we will fix it. I would suggest opening your eyes and putting more effort into being a human being and stop blaming companies for your mistakes and laziness.

Some of the responses...

Some of the responses to this person's complaint were clearly made by CustomizedGirl owners. That is how they operate.

The consumer had every right to tell them she would report them to the BBB. I have seen first hand how dishonest and fraudulent CustomizedGirl operates.

The fraud/theft issues with Customizedgirl.com are escalating and it will not be long before you hear about the legal action being taken against them.

The same thing happened to me , I filled out an BBB report and customized girl promised me a refund, but "Not to contact them again." They are fraudulent.I have included the link to make an complaint against customized girl. We have to report them so they will stop with these fraudulent acts.

kinda funny.

The O.P. threatens to report them to the BBB, yet doesn't want the order cancelled and will pay the "extra" $20.  What a hoot.

That's what happens when people have too much time on their hands.  If the O.P. really thought this was a ripoff, wouldn't a cancelled order be the desired result???   Sounds more like the O.P. was trying to pull a fast one and it backfired.

#2 REBUTTAL Owner of company

are you kidding

AUTHOR: emma - (Canada)

From your report sounds as if Melissa was the victim.  If anyone threatened that they would report my company to the BBB, do you think I would process their order?  No, I would want to get rid of this customer as fast as I could.  At least she refunded your $$.

I love it

This is great, I must applaud Melissa. You called up and threatened her with the BBB and she canceled your order. It is great to hear that a company did not cave to your threats and would rather lose money on a sale than deal with your B.S. Please post the link to her website. I would love to shop there.
