I got this letter in the mail today, included was a check made out to me for $4,835.00, offering me a job as a mystery shopper. Their letter sure sounds very convincing, you don't have to do anything until their check clears in your bank. What got me suspicios right away was the fact they wanted me to use MoneyGram to send a large amount of money (4,300.00).
They want you to transfer it to your relative Pamela (my last name) in Oklahoma. The envelope the came in had a Canadian post stamp on it! I checked phone and fax area codes, none of them match OK area codes, then compared their check to a real check from my check book. There is a bank name on the check, however no address of the bank. They misspelled word "absence" on the back of the check. It is definetely a fraud.
What they counting on is for you to deposit the check into your bank account, it will clear at first and you will do the whole MoneyGram thing, and then a week later or so your bank will notify you that it was a bad check, and will withdraw funds from your account. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is...
