DCU is definitely running for profit. The so called "Not-for-profit" is a white lie. Here is why.

I followed all the steps on line to apply for a car loan, the rate was 1.99%. But when I got the final document, the rate had jumped to 5.99%. I heard that DCU is a non-profit organization, so where is the 4% of car loan should go? The rate actually is high than my bank's 2.99%. That's crazy!

What they are saying:
Not-for-profit. Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives. We exist to serve our members, not to make a profit. Unlike most other financial institutions, credit unions do not issue stock or pay dividends to outside stockholders. Instead, earnings are returned to our members in the form of lower loan rates, higher interest on deposits, and lower fees

What they are doing:

The rate is 2 times higher than my bank (2.99%) and 3 times higher than what they advertised (1.99%). Remember bank is seeking profit, but much lower than DCU!
