I was driving on campus and two white guys pulled up in a gray car and said that they had some speakers to sell. I said I was not interested but they followed me on campus and pulled in front of me.

One guy got out opened the back door and said I work for a company that delievers speakers and we were supposed to take two to a customer but the warehouse put four in the car on accident. He showed me the reciept of the two which looked generic.

He then pulled one of the speakers out of the box, and I have to admit it looked quite nice (nice finish with gold woofers). I have no knowledge of speakers what so ever and told them that is why I was not interested.

He then stated that they had to go make another pickup at the Daytona Store and being from Orlando they had no where to store these, otherwise they would just sell them on ebay. I then said well I will store them for you tonight for a fee if you want...I suggested $50. They said they had no way to trust me. I said it was mutual and got in my car to leave.

Then the other one got out of the car and said hey these are $1,600 speakers (the price printed on the box is $1599.99)we will give them to you for $400 each that is a quater of what they cost at the store. I said sorry guys, I just do not know enough about speakers.

I got in my car to leave. He grabbed a speaker and ran up to my car and put it in my backseat saying hey take them either we leave them on the side of the road or we give them to someone who will use them. He then grabbed the other and put it in my car.

Then I made my big mistake and felt that maybe they were honest and said I am not just going to take these. He then said then just give us what you think is just. What would you give for these. I said maybe a hundred bucks.

He said deal!

I then told them that I did not have the money on me. He said then how can you get it to us, we have to be back at work. I suggested I hit the ATM down the road and he jumped in my back seat and said lets hurry please. I then started to distrust them again considering how much in a hurry they were.

When we got to the ATM he said remember $100 each. I said no $100 total. We then argued a little to where he wanted to take the speakers back out of my car and I began feeling uncomfortable with everyone watching, so I said whatever and went and got my last $200 out of my bank account.

Sure enough when I got home I called a friend and told him the story. He told me it was a ripoff. Pretty common in Detroit where he is from. He told me to search Digital Research on the internet and call some stores. I even checked out ebay. Everywhere I looked said scam.

I was told the speakers to not work and the best thing to do is pull them out and try to make them a cabinet since the wood looks so good.
