I had misgivings when I was price-shopping online for the Canon Powershot G10. The lowest on Amazon was $408.00. Digitals Future was $299. It was already fishy & I should have just walked away.
Unfortunately, I went ahead & submitted an order for just the camera + the $19.99 shipping cost. That was 1/22/09 & I kept a PDF record of it.
Instead of just sending the original order that was completed online, they called back & said they had "questions about my order." I called them back several times & left msgs at the extension they gave but no one returned my call. Several weeks went by & still nothing came in the mail.
when i finally got through to them on the phone they said they simply wanted to "confirm the address." once I confirmed the address though the sales rep put a heavy marketing pitch on me & I regret I bought into the "package deal." So instead of spending $300, I spent $600+.
That package was supposed to have included:
1 Canon Powershot G10 camera
1 4-5 hour battery (rep said the original battery only runs 20 min)
1 error-free memory card
1 ultra violent lens cap
1 year full coverage warranty that was supposed to go beyond the manufacturer's warranty for shipping and inspection costs (that the rep told me were about $155 and not covered by the manufacturer's warranty) and all parts and labor
I kept hand-written notes on what that "package" included. but when I asked the rep whether I'd be getting a confirmation email with the invoice, he said yes. I never got that. he also told me verbally on the phone that i had up to 21 days to return everything for a full refund, but there is nothing in writing to that effect.
On 2/11/09 I received the package but with the following problems:
1. the "4-5 hr battery" looks identical to the "20 min" battery from Canon
2. No lens cap
3. no proof of 1 year extended warranty
4. no packing slip
5. i have my doubts about the "error free memory card" and its superiority over the SD 8G card that i had purchased from Amazon.
If anyone has a recourse for me to take action, please let me know.
