In response to my internet inquiry, Mr. Nix of LossValues contacted me by telephone on 4/26/15. We discussed the collision of 1/17/15 involving my vehicle. While on the call, he reviewed comps online, and advised that an appraisal of my vehicle based upon area comps would be in the $4,000 to $5,000 range. He requested a copy of the accident report and my statement briefly outlining the maintenance applied to the vehicle since purchase. On 4/27/15 I emailed the requested information to him. He contacted me again that day after receiving the information and offered to provide an appraisal and negotiate with the insurance company on my behalf for $275. I subsequently received an invoice from him that day which I immediately processed via Pay Pal as he requested.
A full month had transpired and I had not yet received anything; so I began to leave voice mail messages and send emails to Mr. Nix inquiring as to the status of the appraisal. Eventually, on June 18 Mr. Nix contacted me, and indicated that he had been out of town due to a death in his family. He subsequently sent me an appraisal ostensibly dated in April that was significantly lower than what we had discussed. During a subsequent telephone conversation, Mr. Nix told me that his long-time assistant had resigned, and that he hired a new person who did not work out, and additionally that he had recently fallen down a short flight of stairs and was injured. He further stated that upon reviewing the April appraisal, he recognized the error, and would provide a corrected appraisal.
10 days later, Mr. Nix inquired if I had received the appraisal. I had not. He subsequently acknowledged that something was flagging it as malicious on outgoing email. I then requested that he print and mail the report to me. He agreed. As of this date, I have not received anything from Mr. Nix. And, he does not respond to voicemail messages, text messages, or email inquiries.
It has now been 3 months since I engaged the services of Mr. Nix of LossValues and have not received the services which he agreed to provide. What I have received in addition to an appraisal that he acknowledges is incorrect is a litany of excuses (“I had a death in the family, my assistant quit, my new assistant didn’t work out, I fell down the stairs, I have an email problem”). What excuse is there for not printing and mailing the correct appraisal as he agreed to do? And, what about negotiating with the insurance company on my behalf?
He's very personable on the phone, but once he gets your money, you won't get anything from him. Beware!
