Direct Merchants Bank MasterCard duped me
*Consumer Comment: I too was ripped off
*Consumer Comment: Direct Merchants Bank is the worst credit card company & biggest rip off artists of over inflated, bogus fee that I've ever dealt with & I would never recommend them to anyone
*UPDATE Employee: Place Blame Where It Really Belongs
I, too, was duped thinking I was getting a M/C Gold card. I am planning on filing the appropriate papers with my local BBB, the United States Postal Fraud division, and the state attorney's office.
If none of that works, then I will probably use my card and buy a bunch of stuff and not pay for it. As long as there is a dispute most credit agency's will recognize it and not hold you under such close scrutiny.

I too was ripped off

My story is exactly like the others posted here. Direct Merchants Bank is the BIGGEST rip-off I have ever encountered in my life. I also was hit with late fees when I had mailed my payment seven days before it was due--just as they suggest you do--only to have them post it a day late so that they could charge me late fees and that of course led to overlimit fees. I also tried working with them--they called my place of employment several times a day--they called my house every night up until ten at night. All to no avail--I eventually had to cancel the card--all I had was a 250.00 limit but ended up owing them almost 1600.00 when it was all said and done. I deal strictly in cash now--I learned my lesson the HARD way....

I was a customer of Direct Merchants Bank for several years. In that time I always made my Mastercard payments on time & never abused my card. I was a very good customer until I lost my job of 6 years & fell behind on payments to my creditors.
I notified D.M.B of my unemployment situation & immediately closed my account. They were the only one of my creditors that could have cared less if I was employed or not just so they got their money each month.
I went from a $30,000 annual income to $200 a month in unemployment benefits. Being late on my payment a few times was the beginning of my nightmare with D.M.B. Their "late fee" put me over my limit yet adding an additional "over the limit fee".
I've always tried to send my "payment due" on time, but was told that even if I made the minimum payment on time, I would still coninue to be charged a late fee & over the limit fee since I did not include those fees with my minimum payment.
These fees became so astronomical that they ended up being in excess of $800 over the 9 month period that I was unemployed. I never exceeded my limit due to abusing my card. I always informed them of my situation & even told them that as soon as I found employment my account would be paid in full.
I asked them if they could waive some of their bogus fees & I was told that if I failed to pay all fees charged to my account, they would report it negatively against my credit. Well, I kept my promise & paid the account off in full, including over $800 in "over the limit", & "late fees" & they still reported it negatively against my credit.
Direct Merchants Bank is the worst credit card company & biggest rip off artists of over inflated, bogus fee that I've ever dealt with & I would never recommend them to anyone.

I am utterly disgusted with irresponsible consumers trying to place your lack of common sense, on Direct Merchants Bank. I have spent almost a year evaluating your so called disputes only to find that 95% of you lack the ability to add or subtract.
If you really want to know why our economy is in a slump try counting up the dead beats like you , who spend other people's money and have the audacity to be flabbergasted when we ask for it back.
Please dont think that threats of closing your account distress us, we want you to leave,NOW!!!!You say that if you dont get what your looking for your going to charge up a bunch of stuff on the card/ or file bankruptcy.
I believe that your comment speaks to your TRUE CHARACTER or lack thereof....
