i moved in with my parents after i got home from iraq and ordered direct tv service .

they said i had to pay $295.18 up front for deposit and installation of service. they were suppose to hook it up and never showed. i called and they said they would be there the next day and again they nerver showed. when i called again they said that there was a flag on my order because owed a back account with them under my uncle. I told them that i have never lived with my uncle and dont even talk to him and that the time in question i was on a military base training to leave for Iraq.  They said that there was nothing they could do about the service until this issue was resolved.

i told them that i wanted to cancel the order and they were not to take the money out of the bank.  a day later they took $295.18 out of the account. I had also contacted the bank and they said they would file the dispute and flag the transaction .

i contacted the bank before they took it out.  My money has not been returned. My bank said the dispute had been declined because direct tv wouldnt give the money back and i had to contact them myself. icontacted direct tv and they told me that all deposites and fees were non-refundable. I never recieved their services, equipment or installation so how can they keep my money for services never recieved.   They rip people off. Can they do this? If so no wonder our country is in the financial shape its in!

Jessica you are nuts

Jessica, the army didn't make you grow up, it turned you into an insensitive brat. He wasn't "using" his time in Iraq for anything except to prove that he wasn't at his uncles when Direct Tv tried to charge him for that. He was on his way to Iraq, so how could he have gotten Direct TV? Besides, people often will casually mention their whereabouts when they are talking about a complaint, why are you so insulted by it? Did you go to Iraq? I suspect you didn't, or you would have said so. It is a different world there, and this soldier never asked for any sympathy-he knows there is no draft, he knows he went voluntarily, so why are you being such a brat? He should be commended for his service and dedication to this country, but he never asked for anything but fair treatment from Direct TV.

Stop being a spoiled rotten, conceited b***h.

For crying out loud

I too am a military member, who was skimming direct tv complaints to see if I cared to invest here on base when I ran into your complaint.

You may very well have a valid complaint regarding the service you  received from Direct TV, but unfortunately that message is diluted by your almost comedic and repeated whines regarding your service in Iraq.  WTF does that have to do with your complaint?  Do you know how many people are arriving back here next week?  I don't even KNOW a soldier, and that's pretty much the only people I know, that HASN'T been to a war zone in the last two years.  Who in the hell do you think you are by trivializing it to try to invoke some sort of emotional reaction to your complaint about 200 odd dollars?  No offense, man, but there is no draft, you chose to go to the army, just like you chose to move back in with your mom and dad.  For some of us, the army helped us grow up, but some of us obviously, may need another trip back to the sandbox.
