I was sent an offer for an extended warranty for my 2010 Toyota Rava4.  I though my manufacture's warranty expired in one month, April 2012.  So I agree to an 6 yr extended plan, with the option of a 30 day trial period where I could cancel within the 30 days.

My husband and Toyota informed my I was covered to April 2013.  So I called by the company.

On Sat. March 24th, 2012 at approximately 12 noon (EST), I talked to both Tammy and Shawn to cancel this plan.  I tried to explain my manufacture's warranty did not expire until 2013 (not 2012 as stated on your paperwork you mailed me) and I did not want to pay for a year with your company while I was still covered by Toyota.  I stated I was gladly willing to revisit this plan in one year.

However I received much resistance from Shawn.  After I firmly restated my position, Shawn hung up on me.  I am keeping diligent records of who I spoke to and if this plan is not canceled ASAP and if I don't receive verification of cancelation I will have no choice to contact Chase (my credit company) and dispute the charges and accuse your business as fraudulent.  Please handle this matter quickly and more maturely than Shawn.

Why Buy A Powertrain Coverage On A New Car?

AUTHOR: Louis Jefferson - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, March 26, 2012

You should look at Warranty Direct or another company that has online prices and buying. I looked up your car and you could get much better coverage than just a powertrain warranty. As well check out the BBB. These guys are F rated. You better get your money back fast or consider it gone!

STEPHANIE S, EXTENDED WARRANTIES ARE A WASTE OF MONEY........

AUTHOR: Karl - (USA)

POSTED: Saturday, March 24, 2012

according to information available on the web.

Feel free to 'Google' this- SHOULD YOU BUY AN EXTENDED CAR WARRANTY?, and read the related articles on the web.

Keep in mind that an extended warranty only covers "manufacturers defects", in most cases. There are usually many loopholes that will allow the ones who are selling these extended warranties to NOT pay for the problems that may arise with your vehicle. If the warranty company goes out of business and you have a claim, then you are out of luck, right?

You would be better off by putting the money that you would spend for an extended warranty in a savings account that will be there in case you ever need repairs, correct? If a car has a warranty from the manufacturer, why would you want to extend it with a company that is not affiliated with the manufacturer?

Even Toyota Corporation has not helped customers whose engines were defective while the vehicle was still under warranty through Toyota!
Simply 'Google' this- CONSUMER COMPLAINTS ABOUT TOYOTA ENGINES, and go to the consumeraffairs website and read all of the complaints from Toyota owners for proof.

Extended warranties are a complete waste of money, in my opinion. It's just another way for Car dealers and others to make profits from unsuspecting and uneducated consumers.

Good luck.
