DirecTV ripoff trying to overcharge us, Am still receiving threatening letters every month from the collection agency they hired against me. Los Angeles California
*Consumer Suggestion: DirectTV is a RIP OFF ..contact all credit reporting agencies in writing informing them of possible fraud being reported on your credit report
I decided to switch to Dish Network, after being with DTV for about 8 years. I paid my bill to DTV and then called and shut it off 3 days later. The rep I talked to on the phone said I would be issued a credit, but then I was sent a bill the next month for the service. When I called them they claimed that I still owed them $54.00. I sent them the documentation of where I had paid the bill, but they turned me over to a collection agency anyway.
I contacted the Better Business Bureau a long time ago, but have heard nothing from them yet, and am still receiving threatning letters every month from the collection agency they hired against me.

#1 Consumer Suggestion
DirectTV is a RIP OFF ..contact all credit reporting agencies in writing informing them of possible fraud being reported on your credit report
AUTHOR: ChrysAn - (U.S.A.)

I was a customer of Direct TV for about 5 years, my problems with this company started when it was bought by EchoStar. Every month I paid my bill in full, after almost 5 years, Direct TV decided to cash my checks but NOT APPLY the payment to my account. This went on for 4 months. Each month that I received my statement (stating I was late), I called Direct TV to inquire as to why they were cashing my checks and not applying the payment to my account, they stated that it was my problem and that I was a liar, (which I do not understand as I had copies of all the cancelled checks in my hand). I sent copies of all cancelled checks that were cashed by Direct TV, along with a detailed letter. Direct TV refused to respond. I cancelled my account due to their lack of concern regarding my account.
To date, they still have my money that they never posted to my account.
My Suggestion To You:
Immediately contact all credit reporting agencies in writing informing them of possible fraud being reported on your credit report, be very detailed (account No., dateds, cashed checks, etc.)as it will help your cause. Also, contact Direct TV in writing stating that you DO NOT WANT TO BE CONTACTED BY THEM...EVER, by law they have to stop harrassing you.
They reported me to the credit agencies, but because I was able to provide these agencies with very detailed activity regarding my account, Direct TV's attempt to ruin my credit did not work. Their false report that I owed them money was removed from my credit report.
GOOD LUCK
