Discount Book Sales BBV Discount Books Hidden charges; continous charges to debit card acct. for undisclosed (hidden) membership fees; RIPOFF Internet

I went online in search of a book and ended up at www.discountbooksales.comon 12/13/2010.They advertised a discount of $5.00 on the book and free shipping. I entered my debit card information and ordered the book for a charge of $2.03.

They debited my account for that amount and then added another $1.00 charge for no specified reason. That $1.00 charge caused me a bank overdraft fee of $35.00. Then on 12/20/2010 they charged my account for $9.95 which also cost me another $35.00 overdraft charge!

Going online and entering BBVDiscount Books, which is the name that appears on the bank statement, I discovered numerouscomplaints that had been lodged against this company. One complaint had a phone number: 866-707-5858.

I called that number and spoke to an individual who identified herself as "Claire." I calmly told her that I did not realize that I had entered into any membership agreement and wanted to cancel that membership. She gave me a confirmation number and said that I would receive an e-mail confirmation notice of the cancellation (which has not happened).

I askedClaire for a physical address for the company and she would only give me a P.O. Box which she said was P.O.Box 810365 Boca Raton, Florida 33431. I asked for a fax number to the company and she gave me the following: 561-989-7401.

If one goes online you can readMULTIPLE accounts of reports of complaints about this company. I assume that they are somehow able to get away with their scam and that I have lost in excess of $82.00 for a book that was supposed to cost me $2.02. I don't trust them not to charge my card in the future so it is my intention to go to my bank and cancel that debit card. What a hassle!! Live and learn!
