I started with Discount Debt Solutions in July of 2004. I was told that they work with the creditors to lower interests rates, so that I, the consumer, can have a lower monthly payment.

Before you start the program, you pay an initial installment payment equal to the amount of your new consolidated monthly payment. They agree to return this money upon full payment of every creditor consolidated through them.

In exchange for this "wonderful" service they are providing you, you have to sign an agreement stating that you'll pay a $29 handling fee each month. AND...if you cancel the service before full payment is received for all of the creditors you have consolidated with them, they get to keep your installment fee!

What they fail to inform people of is that the "agreement" they work out inevitably puts you into delinquent status with your creditors, and you won't know anything about it until it's too late!!

Therefore, the fist notice you receive that your accounts are delinquent is the call you get from the individual creditors stating they've canceled the agreement with Discount Debt Solutions. This, in turn, leaves you with horrible marks on your credit report and still responsible for the amount that is delinquent.

As far as Discount Debt is concerned, when the creditors cancel the agreement with them because of delinquent payments, it's YOU'RE problem. Discount Debt WILL NOT refund the installment fee, regardless of the fact that their negligence is what caused the account with them to be canceled before all creditors were paid in full.

In addition to all of this, not one of the interest rates on the accounts I consolidated were actually lowered. Discount Debt Solutions merely consolidated my loans, and began making lower monthly payments to them. So, yes you save a little money each month, but as far as your creditors are concerned, you're just not paying your entire bill.

Discount Debt Solutions is a scam that simply replaces your large monthly outgoing payments with a $29 monthly handling fee and delinquent marks on your credit report.

Customer Had Requested Refund

AUTHOR: Brandy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, March 18, 2005

In this specific case, Andrea had requested a refund of a payment and was told that we needed her bank statement showing the funds cleared to send that to her. At the time, her account was placed on a do not disburse status to avoid sending the funds she was requesting back to her creditors. She never sent the bank statement in, and once her husband made us aware that they wanted the payment to disburse to their creditors, it was done so immediately. The following 2 payments were also disbursed immediately, just as those before this one case had been.

Both of Andrea's creditors had accepted the program and were not being short paid at all. Due to the one months payment not being disbursed one of her creditors did cancel the program, however they are also willing to set the account back up on the program. We do not take the attitude of it now being her problem. However, she was unwilling to allow us to continue to work on her accounts and set her back up with that creditor. We cannot do so without her permission.

Thank you.
