I purchased two tires for my 2001 F150 at a cost of $330.00, they assured my the tires would not make any noise, after about 4k miles they began making noise like a big 4x4, I went back to the tire store and complained about the noise, they told me the tire had been discontinued, they offered me $50.00 Ea. trade in on another tire, I refused to take fifty bucks for tires I paid over $150ea for, I sent an email to the company with no response from them, they advertise if you are not satisfied with any purchase from Discount Tire just bring it back and they will make it good,I feel like doing the same thing the woman does in there commerical, throw it thru the window.

one hundred fifty dollars each for them and I refused, all of you out there

can say what you want to but I will never go back to Discount Tire again

DTC is not a ripoff

AUTHOR: Mannatude - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, June 09, 2010

My husband works for DTC in GA and I assure you, they are not a rip off company.  Did they measure the wear on your tires?  Depending on the amount of wear, I know they pro-rate a refund for your tires if you are not satisfied and they have wear.  What kind of tire did you buy specifically?  Did you opt for the certificates on the tire?  If you had opted for the certificates on the tires, you would not have an issue like this, check into it.  Are you sure there is no damage to the tires to make the noise?  Or perhaps the noise is coming from the older tires you did not replace?  Take these into consideration before you make a 'ride complaint' at the store.  Also, did you talk to the manager of the store or just an assistant manager or tech for that matter?  A lot of times, if you are courteous to the manager of the store, they end up working with you the best they can and try to make the customer happy.  This company is the BEST tire company around, they are not only good to their customers, but they go above and beyond to take care of their employees and their families.

Many here would never man up and apologize. Hey, don't forget I am from South Florida so I know understand why you can't stand some people who drive pick ups.

But this guy just has an f-150 and is trying actually to get it NOT to sound like a big 4 x 4.

Just try not to place people into categories based on prejudice, we have enough here who do that.

Just base the reports off the facts, I know it's hard sometimes to see all sides but we are not here to bash others. I know it happens but when it happened to you I know you were not to happy. People who post here are usually pissed off enough so it is easy to provoke them..and sometimes people post here who do deserve a little verbal beating, you just have to know which ones before bashing.

I also found this site by posting about a bank that ripped me off..and i got called everything from a loser, to a drug addict, to a liar, to irresponsible, a liberal, you name it. And all I did was post to warn others. But the bank defenders got me so pissed off it back fired on them and now I seek them out and ruin their day.

It is cool to ask questions because often people do leave out important facts, but always leave the benefit of a doubt, most people are not going to waste their time reporting here unless they are genuinely pissed off about how they were treated, or they were financially ravaged, so a little compassion goes a long way.

Actually, there is nothing wrong with defending a bank or any business if anyone feels the complaint is not worthy, but some post here that do not care about the bank, do not work at the bank, were never victim to the tactics..they just post here to belittle posters and insult their intelligence because a human mistake cost them dearly. Those are the ones I HATE, more then you hate people with trucks.

the subject says it all---as you know ronny g--it seems most of these ROR relating to auto service are people who are not very educated in auto service---i assumed--like everyone else assumes at one point or another in there life--this was another uneducated person---i tried getting to the bottom of the report by asking questions and even trying to offer advice to what i though and still think--is someone who doesn't know about auto service--i tried to be nice--did i make any comments of him being an idiot or anything of that nature?-no---as you know and may have seen--i do tend to insult people here--but i only insult those that have it coming--i am also open for insults and take them willingly when i am a dumbass--i admit to being a dumbass from time to time--but with his comments about "any other smary ideas"--i took this as an attitude-again--after my intentions were to help him--based on my experiences working as a mechenic--my questions and comments were things i have seen--again--i tried to help----so i made some insults to him on my rebuttal--but notice it was towards the end of the post--why?--to let him know i was tryin to help---with this knowledge--he could of said something like-i see what your saying and i apologize for my comment but you are still behaving like an a*****e---i would have accpetred this based on my comments and we would be even--instead--he now comes out with more comments!!!!--with this--this person treuly proves my point that people that drive trucks are assholes--i should know--i see them everyday--and my life experiences in general cause me to discrimante people based on the vehicles they drive-----for example--i had a truck a*****e today--but a bigger than usual a hole---he had to have his big chrome rims and one of those boat horns on his truck that is extra loud--i have seen these assholes before with these jacked up trucks with boat horns--and they look for any excuse to honk there stupid horn at you----this is all i got to say---but you know what--to throw a loop--i will formally apolgize to the poster here for my comments-so i apologize--but just know i got snippy cause you got snippy

No need to attack the posters..

Bill d, you are being no better then a bank defender.

The guy paid over 150 dollars for each tire, I would not say those are cheap, he was assured they would not make any noise, and they do. So he lodged a complaint..why is that a problem bill?

I would agree after 4K they would not give full credit, but they should do better then 50 each if they advertise they make good if not satisfied. Since the tires make noise and he was assured they would not, the tire shop is responsible for giving false assurance and needs to step up to the plate.

With only 4k on those tires they will probably re-sell them for almost full pop anyhow..you know how it works Bill..don't you?

umm--yes--i do have more bright ideas--#1--write a rip off report more accurately--in your OP you make it seem as though after 4k they just made noise out of nowhere--#2--why would they have to assure you the tires didn't make any noise??--did you have this issue??--or where you just knowingly buying cheap a*s tires and anticipated noise for them being so cheap?? -this leads me to #3--try not to buy cheap tires--#4--try to get a car-trucks suck and guzzle gas--and i find somehow-95% of people who drive trucks are assholes-people who drive lexus's are just weenie mother f*ckers/puss*es--for all i know you were someone who didn't know s**t like most peole who write these reports here and i was trying to give you advice as to what it may be so it doesn't happen again--so now we get to #5-try not to be a typical truck a*****e as you so proved with your comment--enjoy

discount tire on F150 p/u

AUTHOR: Lonnie - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, May 27, 2010

I am a retired mechanic of 35yrs I know when a vehicle has bad shocks or needs an alignment, the tires didn't start making noise suddenly the started gradually after a few hundred miles and gradually got worse, now they are so noisy I'm going to take them off and install new ones, and also the tires that Discount Tire took off my truck didn't make any noise from new until worn out,the tires from discount tire are just hard rubber they have been on now for about 10k miles and hardly no wear is visable, their just bad tires they are have been discontinued by the manufactory, so any other bright ideas.

what is the reason for the noise??--after 4k all of a sudden???--a 2001 f150--how many miles??--did you align the vehcile after they put the tires on??--i am getting at this is because i have seen bad shocks (especially on trucks) cause tires to become chopped which would make the sound you describe--were the tires very choppy???--sometimes alignment issues can cause the tires to get chopped--even a balancing issue can cause choppiness---it seems you need more than tires---did they tell you you need shocks or anything when you had the tires intalled???----the point--it seems you have other issues with this vehicle that needs to be discovered and addressed first otherwise the same will happen again
