Ordered a Nextar SNAP7 7" portable GPS navigator, paid $199.00 plus $10.96 shipping, from AMAZON.com website. Returned GPS because was not satisfied with the performance. Paid $40. for overnight UPS return shipping which included insurance. DiscountsJungle retains 15 % of amount paid for a service fee.

There's no automatic refund by DiscountsJungle upon their receipt of the returned item. I had to track them down on the phone, and was told that they had received the item some time ago, but they would refund soon. They then refunded promptly $169.95. So, I'm 'out' the $29, plus the $40 return shipping. BEWARE of dealing with AMAZON.COM's vendors. Read all the fine print pertaining to them.

I suggest purchasing items directly from Amazon.com, rather than the other venders listed.  Amazon.com = no problems returning and no service fees.  Thanks for the input.

Standard Procedure

AUTHOR: knownote - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, February 15, 2012

This is standard procedure among most all retailers online.  The amount of time it took to pay their employees to process this order, ship it to you, then receive it back, spend time with you on the phone to try to resolve the issue, restock the item, etc is the reason for this. If this is not to your liking, be sure of what you want before you buy or either stop buying off the net.

Not a ripoff

This is a fairly standard fee with most retailers, even outside amazon. They took the time to order the product, list it, sell it, ship it to you, recieve it back, and issue you a refund. During that time they likely ordered one to replace their inventory leading to having more stock on hand than they need. Your purchase caused labor and shipping charges on the company. It wuld be a rip off if the item were defective, but you returned it just because you didnt like it. try doing that at best buy... they will charge you 15% too.
