Discover Financial Services Payment Protection Scam Wilmington Delaware

I recently became aware of a charge on my Discover Statement that was titled Payment Protection Plan. When I called Discover to inquire about this charge, I got the run around, being switched back and forth. After finding out what the charge was for, I told them that I did not apply for this service and that I wanted it stopped and a credit to my account for all past charges.

I was told that I ordered this in a telephone solicitation. Bottom line is that they refuse to let me hear this conversation, claiming it to be proprietary information. When I first wrote to Discover I cc'd the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General's Office of Pennsylvania. Neither of them can do anything about this unless I can prove that it is a practice of Discover to do this to people.

My alternatives (according to the Attorney General's Office) are to file a complaint in a municipal court or take it to Small Claims Court. I am not sure if it would be worth my while to do, although I estimate that the charges are in the area of $2,500 with interest accured over a period of time.

I have never, never even considered ordering anything off of these solicitors who call you. I usually hang up on them from the beginning. I find it very hard to believe that I ordered this on the phone! The fact that I must pay $2,500.00 to Discover just because they say so is maddening!!! Anyone out there who would like to join with me to present this to the attorney general's office, please respond on this website.
