The good thing is I only have a half-year left on my contract with this foolish company.
I rarely have been so disappointed with a business as I have been with The Dish Network.
I signed with Dish Network when I moved into my new home.
I have had a hardware problem since the original installation. Calling these great folks makes me want to slit my wrists. They make promises they fail to keep then act like nothing is wrong. I would love to be a fly on the wall at the Dish Net work Offices.
When one threatens to cancel the service for there failure to perform they are happy to threaten you with a hefty cancellation fee.
These thugs figure that replacing customers constantly is cheaper then doing a good job with the ones they have.
An example
I received a call from Dish Network offering to add Cinemax to my account for a mere $3.01 per month. I accepted the offer. Weeks later I received a surprise in my bill. The increase was not $3.01 but $12.87. I called the pros at Dish Network figuring this would be easy to fix. The first genius I spoke with had no explanation of why the bill was wrong. After realizing that she could not do simple math I ask to be transferred to a supervisor After waiting on hold for 15 minutes the line went click and then dial tone.
A second call generated a response similar to the first. When asked directly for an answer to my questions about the error, Employee id S2V Could not process the question. Respectfully asking to be transferred to a supervisor I spoke with Employee id E27.
The result of this interaction revealed the fact that The phone call offering the Deal only applied to someone else but if I was willing I could have the service for $7.00 a month.
This juvenile runaround wasted over an hour of my time and theirs I might add.
I presume that Dish Network counts on the fact that many customers pay their bill automatically and fail to read and understand their bill.
I truly feel that Dish Network is a shady organization with tight contracts and a well thought out way of cheating the customer on service and their hard earned money.
I must be really angry at a company to spend this much time to fight back. I tell my story about Dish Network whenever the topic of TV programming comes up.
Is it Fraud? I bet Dish Network has a battalion of lawyers who are more they happy to answer that question. No one needs the Dish!

The problems that you are experiencing is because of bad businees by a CEO named Charlie Ergen of Denver Colorado..the 1st problem is a huge customer service call center of theirs is located in the phillipines and run by people that have never been to Amerrica you can tell your talking to them if you ask where they are and they say "Orange" which is code for phillipines they Are not allowed to tell you that they are in the phillipines if you would like not to speak to these people tell them you want to disconnect and insist they will then transfer you to a call center in littleton co and you can speak to someone with a little better knowledge of what goes on. the next problem is all the euipment is made in mexico and the next problem is all employees are underpayed for their jobs and have bad hours so none of them really care to much...reason I know all this is I am an ex-employee
#2 UPDATE EX-employee responds
i was one of the better reps by trying everything i could for the customer

i just wanted to say that i am a ex employee of dish network in pa. i would also like to state that i was one of the better reps by trying everything i could for the customer. the reason your bill was high was because of their pro-rating. say if mid month you took the deal for the movie station and your bill had not generated yet. well, they charged you for the full month and the remainder of that month you used it. i know that alot of cutomers dont realize that because i did recieve alot of calls about that same question. but, if you find it hard to talk to the customer reps., just speak to the supervisors and they should be able to help.
#1 Consumer Suggestion
Dish Network just being jerks or untrained employees?

From my experience with Dish Network it's been plesent. I'm sorry you had such a sh*tty experience with them. Did you talk with Customer Service/Billing (NOT tech support)
I'd suggest a letter to Dish Network is in order. There based somewhere in Denver, CO.
I hate to see cable GAIN customers since they think they are a monopoly when they are not.
You do have choices for satellite if you want to stay that route Direct TV or C-Band. Lot's of free stuff available on C-Band mpeg 2 fta.
Hope this helps,
