Aug 6th. We took our 1986 Chevy Silverado into Dobbs tire and auto in Arnold Missouri for tires and an inspection. They called at 9:30 A.M. and told us it needed two new front brake lines and brake shoes and pitman arm and a windshield among other things that didn't need immediate repair at this time. We went to pick it up at 5:15 P.M and paid the $600.00 bill and my wife thinking it was fixed got into the truck had no brake pedal She pumped it up only to have a little mushy pedal.

They told us they would fix it at N/C that it was something they might have done. They said it was more then likly the master cylinder. Aug7th. I picked up the truck at 1:30 P.M. I drove it 20 miles on the highway no problems but I didn't have to use the brakes but four times all the way down and back. At 3:30 P.M. we went to the City of St Louis at Hampton road with loads of traffic lights the pedal was starting to get a little weak but not enough to notice at first.

We came back and at 4:45 we were at Jeffco blvd and Tenbrook road at prime time traffic went to stop and it would not stop. I ran through a stop light because it would not stop and in front of a police officer. Luckily he did not pull me over although now I wish he had. I had to use the gears to stop. I went to Dobbs they said they needed another day to look at it. That it might be a bad brand new master cylinder.

I took it to another auto repair place at 5:00 P.M the same day, and they said it was one or two things first and foremost the back bleeder valve on the passenger side had been broke off and they was no way to bleed the back brakes. It may be a bad master cylinder but it had to be bled down all the way from front to back because of the new master cylinder and the new front hoses to find out.

There was no way they could have done it with the broken bleeder valve. I called Dobbs back at 5:05 they told me that the auto repair I was at was wrong and it didn't need to have the back brakes bled that he didn't feel any air in the lines and that he knew the back bleeder valve was broken off but that didn't make any difference.

I got home I called the parts house who in fact sold Dobbs the part and they said if you take off the front lines and or the master cylinder then it has to be bled.

They ended up paying for the repairs at the auto repair I was at. It needed front rotors which had pits in them which dobbs didn't check or tell me about and a wheel cylinder with a broken bleeder valve. They gave me also $100. Extra for "my trouble". I still filed a report with the B.B.B.

On Aug 23 the manager of the head office called me on the phone and questioned why I called the B.B.B. and I told him just because he paid the bill at another repair place for the work they should have done right to start with, doesn't make it right. My wife and I both could have been hurt or worse. Not just once but twice with my wife. I was told "Oh I see even thought we went above and beyond you still wanted to knock us".

I don't see how they went above and beyond other then paying the bill and giving me $100 Extra because we almost got killed from something they didn't fix correctly not once but twice. They were going to send my wife out with no brakes the first time when they said it was fixed and i almost ran into three car and a cop at a stop light the second time i mean don't they test drive these cars before releasing them? above and beyond I think not they just wanted to shut me up.

STOP! ..before you think about using the Better Business Bureau (BBB)... CLICK HERE to see how other consumers were victimized by the BBB's false or misleading information. Don't be fooled! It has been reported, when there are thousands of complaints and other investigations underway by authorities, the BBB has no choice but to finally give an UNsatisfactory rating to a BBB member business that is paying the BBB big membership fees every year. When a business is reported that is NOT a BBB member, BBB files WILL more likely show an UNsatisfactory rating, then reportedly shake down that company to become a member of the BBB. One positive thing about the BBB is, either way, if a business has an unsatisfactory rating with the BBB, you can be sure, the business is bad. But what about all those BBB member businesses that had complaints filed against them? Consumers never get to hear about them. What about the BBB advertising to the public? Is this a false and misleading perception they are giving about consumer confidence when dealing with a business? Click here to understand more of what consumers and business alike are saying about the BBB. You decide. ..Remember. The BBB membership is not earned, it's paid for!
