Dollar Tree Management very abusive Iowa City Iowa

I worked for Dollar Tree for 3 months and that was more than enough. The manager who hired me, Patrick, is verbally and mentally abusive. Also, he claims to do a lot of work, but the person that does the most is his freight manager, Lisa.

When I was first hired I was told I would be replacing one of his current managers, Amber. As i worked, I discovered that this was not true. I also became very ill and was told by a doctor not to go in. I went in anyway because I was told my job would then be at risk. Repeatedly, Patrick told me I was too slow and woud berate me in front of other employees and customers.

Into my second month, another manager, Toby, obviously began to fear for his job. he told Patrick many lies, telling him I was interuppting his work and making it difficult. What actually happened was that I had to not only do my work, but his as well. When I attempted to tell patrick this after he screamed, literally, at me that I need to get "My s**t together or look for another job", he told me he didn't want to hear it. I was later told by another employee it was because Patrick had a thing for Toby.

Not only that, but several employees sell and smoke pot in the office, and many times has money been missing and items just taken off the shelves by the other managers. When I quit I was constantly called by Patrick and inappropriate messages were left.

I would not reccomend shopping there or working there, as it is not worth it.
