These guys are a bunch of aggressive clowns.  Super aggressive sales calls about their amazing search engine, and that there are only 3 spots available per term.. Oh yeah and 2 of your competitors, and they will give you names have already signed up.  I must give them props, they are pretty good sales people, they had the names of the owners of 2 of our competitors.

When I reviewed their "search engine", it was interesting they asked, how is the "image" of your web site?  Funny question for a search engine to ask me, glad they did.  That is when I realized that the "image", was just that, it was an old screen shot of our old web site that was replaced 6 months ago.    I pointed this out to him and that well you are obvioulsly not a search engine if that is the search result.  He proceeded to explain to me that well they are constantly rendering images, blah blah, blah, and it is really complicated and I would not understand.  HA.

When I did some quick google analytics work while on the phone with him, I discovered their search engine had never, ever sent us traffic.   They offer to run your ad for free for a few days so that you can see the high quality of traffic they will generate. Curious to see their black magic, I told them go for it.  Amazingly, we received 50+ unique users in 3 days.   Looking at the traffic it was very clear that it was garbage and that it was most likely a bot.  Based on previous reports of these guys and their predeccesor Redz.com  it look like their bots have gotten more sophisticated, but they do not resemble real traffic flow.   The traffic was actually "high Quality"  with an exceptionally low bounce rate, and visited 5 pages.  Dig a little deeper, and all the traffic came from outside our market area, and the combo of pages visited was absolutley insane.

When they called back to check in, I was pretty frank about the research I had done, and that they were not  a real search engine, WOW, that blew the guy up.  He went crazy.  I told them to place on the do not call list and hung up.  Well that started an onslaught of calls from 2 additional employees of the dothop.com  who proceeded to call and bother anyone who answered.  This lasted for 2 hours.

Danger and beware, this is a total scam and they are very good at getting small pieces of info about the company on every call.

Do your self a favor and just hang up, do not say anything, do not give them any info that will help them in getting  past your "gatekeepers".
