This is ironic. I was searching information for a school project and decided to use AmeriCredit. Well what do you know, Drive Financial popped up also. Then I see all these stories resembling...me! I, just like the rest of you had major credit snafus and in my case I filed bankruptcy. My other car (which was financed by AmeriCredit) was paid off and I decided to get another car. My poor Explorer had more miles than the law allowed. Anyhow, I went to Paul Blanco in Sacramento and this lovely sales guy said sure, we can finance you. My credit score had tremendously improved over the years, I gleefully handed him $2,500 (that seems to be the magic number here) and off I drove with my 2005 Trailblazer. I purchased this car August 2007, and began making payments in October 2007. Oh, the care is great...for now.
I thought all was well until after the 5th payment. Hmm I wondered. Why isn't this balance going down any? I have paid out well over $4200 since last year Oct only for my balance to budge about 100.00. I feel incredibly stupid. I am finishing grad school (getting an MBA) and these are one of the things that we are taught to look out for. Subprime Scums!
I see that many consumers of Drive want to do a class action suit or one is already in progress. If this is so, can anyone please respond and give me information? All people who have less than stellar credit are not bad people. It is folks like Drive and AmeriCredit who take advantage of hard working people who want to enjoy the benefit of having a decent vehicle. I know it is the responsibility of the consumer to pay bills on time, however, we are all human and everything is not always perfect.
I would really like to see this company get what's coming to them. I will continue to pay my payments on time, but I would like to see a reduction in this loan shark type interest.
