Drivetime - Ugly Duckling calls wont stop!!! Huntington Beach California

Its my fault really. I saw the contract and signed it! Big mistake. Sure 25% interest is not fun, and my truck was never fixed properly (cosmetic). But the problem is this; the calls wont stop! When you fill out the information to apply you must give several references (9). I asked why and they said "oh dont worry, its only to get the loan, we throw them away after that". Foolishly I gave them all nine and everything went bad from there.

Starting the week after I left the lot my phone was off the hook. Either a friend I placed on the reference list or Drivetime themselves. They call a week before my payment is due to "make sure it will be on time". They tell my friends I am a week late and I must contact them immediately (like it would be there biz if I was, thats against the law) when I'm early. ALL 9, EVERY WEEK!

This has been going on for over two years. I was late once and I kept in contact with them letting them know I would pay them on friday (three days late). You better believe they still called everyone on that sheet (the one they "threw away") everyday til I paid. They try desperately to ruin my reputation with my friends. They ask them how they can be friends with such a "wishy washy person". All this when I already paid early. Privacy act of 1974 says (in short) if you tell a creditor/company to stop calling you they must. This is for my friends mind you.

Well they havent and they are getting sued for harrasment by one buddy of mine (not sure if they know it yet). I suggest to anyone reading this; NEVER USE THIS COMPANY! Walking is better. The sticker on my vehicle was $13,000 and I will pay over $21,000 when its over in two years, and my reputation has been hard to defend with friends tired of the phone calls. I have been seriously tempted to let them come get the vehicle. I just hate to do it now that Ive already gone this far. Might as well pay it off and hope my score gets a little better. I feel one is better off spending the $1500 down on a $1500 car. Save for better if and when you can. A beater car is better than the abuse driveslime dishes out!
