Duct Depot Air Duct Cleaning Scam Dumont New Jersey

My 80 yr old grandmother was contacted over the phone by this company offering to clean her air ducts and dyer vents for $39. The young man who came out to do the work said his name was Tony, he had a very heavy Russian accent. He looked around and told her that the air ducts were very dirty and growing mold. She was told this job would take a few hours and woukd cost $1000. She told him she didn't have that money, so he said he could take a check for $300 that day and asked to hold on to another check for the next month, she didn't feel comfortable doing that, so he told her he would come back for the rest.

He brought in his equipment, but was only there for maybe another half hour and left. After he left she was worried she was scammed and looking over the bill, and she noticed the company had no address, just listed Bergen County. I googled the company and the first thing that came up was this site with 5 other reports. The next day she cancelled her check. Today I had another company from my area come check the ducts (they were so nice and checked them for us for free) and all he had to do was look at one of our vents to see nothing was cleaned. He then looked at our air ducts and said nothing was even opened up! "Tony" didn't do one thing! We have not been contacted from from duct depot about the cancelled check.
