Our company setup a Dwolla account last month to use to pay workers and other vendors. We are corporation that has exsited since 2004, good reputation, have bank accounts, credit cards, line of credit all in good standing. We have a website, and are listed on the state websites for valid insurance, license, business address etc.

There is no reason for anyone to suspect us of not being a legitatmate business.

However one month after setting up the account we decided to send money into the Dwolla account to pay a vendor. As soon as the funds clear from the bank account into Dwolla, Dwolla suspended that account and seizes the funds. They didn't even e-mail or anything that they did it, we found out when loggin in. When we called them they wouldn't give a reason why, just that the security team found some issues. When asked about returning the funds they wouldn't say when or if they would return the funds, and based on their Terms of service they didn't have too.

How is that possible? Is that even legal?

They returned the funds

AUTHOR: - ()

POSTED: Monday, March 23, 2015

After submitting a complaint on this forum and with the FTC they have returned the funds to the account. They never did explain why they did what they did. For now on we will be sticking with bank bill pay and intuit payment network and as much as I dislike it - Paypal.

Before this exprience I was recommeding people try using this instead of paypal, intuit and bill pay, but now - no way. I mean when paypal started they would be slow or reject some payments for unknown reasons but they would at least work with you to resolve it.

That is not true statement and is misleading

We have reviewed the TOS of service. Nothing that we did was against their terms of services. Let me repeat what we did.

1. Setup an account

2. Provided the information requested such as company name, address, phone numbers, EIN, etc.. All of which were verified and proven correct and true.

3. Listed a bank account to be connected to our Dwolla account. Which was also verified.

4. A month later made a transfer from our company bank accoutn to the company dwolla account.

After the transfer of funds cleared into the Dwolla account they suspened the company account. No warning no notice no questions asked of us.

This is the same as going into a bank setting up a bank account and providing all the legal paperwork. Then making a cash deposit. Then later you go into the bank and they tell you, your account has been suspended and no they won't give your cash back because you violated the terms of service. When you ask what you did they won't tell you.

Keep in mind this is an existing business since 2004, incorporated with the State of California (easily verified) with easily verified Licenses with the state. There was no possible violation of any terms of service. It is absolute ridiculous claim.
