I rented a vehicle the first of November 2014 and returned it on the 4th. The vehicle I was given was a 2014 Chevrolet Impala. The vehicle was driven from the airport rental location to my parents' home in Sterrett, Alabama where it was parked for the two days of my visit, then driven back to the airport.

Upon returning the vehicle, an agent introduced herself as Angie Alfaro, took my rental agreement and moved directly to the drivers' door handle, where she jammed a pen under the handle and told me that the vehicle had been broken into and I would be charged for repairs.

I informed her that was false and to note on the receipt (as I did) that the claim would be disputed. She made no further visual inspection of the vehicle, but returned to the booth to have me sign the final paperwork on which I indicated I would dispute the allegation.

Ms. Alfaro did not sign the paperwork with the name she introduced herself to me with. The paperwork was signed Romele (last name indistinguishable). The return agent was a woman, not a gentlemen. Romele is a man's name.

I gave my insurer, Geico, and their agent Laquanda Hill a recorded statement of the event for their records explaining that the vehicle mileage from the airport to 181 Summerwood Lane, Sterrett Alabama, 35147 would show it had been driven to and from there and nowhere else.

In my statement, I explained that in the 40+ years of my parents living at the same address in rural Alabama, that no crime has ever taken place (no break in, no robberies, no trespassing, nothing), which made the likelihood that anyone would travel off paved highway, cross two dirt roads and a set of railroad tracks to find my parents very remote address only to break in to an empty, rented Chevy Impala more than unlikely.

Further, I explained that the return agent did not perform any walk-around visual inspection, but rather immediately and exclusively zeroed in on something neither the original rental agent nor I saw on first inspection when the vehicle was rented, indicates she knew there was previous damage to the vehicle and was trained to make this allegation.

I have filed a complaint of ths incident with the Better Business Bureau and will be asking if it is possible to do the same with the Attorney General's Office or consumer affairs bureaus for Florida (where EZ appears to be headquartered) and Atlanta (the location of my specific incident).

I am not accustomed to renting from places that issue damaged vehicles. As a renter, I look for the typical things -- dents, scratches, dings that everyone else does. It would never occur to me to inspect for signs of break in. If I felt that was necessary, I would not rent from that establishment.

If you search EZ Rent A Car fraud, you will find many cases that bear striking similarities to this case.

I believe a review of this vehicle's VIN will show the damage, if real, was made prior to my rental and multiple customers may have been issued the same damage claim.

No damage was made to this vehicle while in my possession.

Sterrett, Alabama is no hotbed of criminal activity.

This claim must be disputed.

At best, it is the product of unprofessional business practices.

At worst, it is fraud.

Further investigation by a neutral third party, such as the BBB, consumer affairs bureau, ripoffreport or state's attorney's office will determine the proper outcome, I believe.

This is unethical. If there is no recourse because it is literally a they said/I said situation at this point, I will be forced to settle this account, but I CANNOT IN GOOD CONSCIENCE agree to this without continuing to dispute what I know are false allegations designed to basically extort money not owed this company.
