Why purchase an extended warranty? I did so in the event of MAJOR repairs after I had purchased my (used) 2002 Freelander back in 05'. Well, it is now 2008 and the transmission is shot. It will not enter into Overdrive (5th gear), and therefore will not allow for highway driving.

Because I was more than 2000 miles tardy on an oil change (12,000 miles ago), EasyCare is claiming that I have not followed the 'Recommended Manufacturer's Maintenance Program', and therefore will not cover any expenses. I have to wonder whether or not Easy Care would ever cover expenses on used cars...as I can not prove that the 'Recommended Manufacturer's Maintenance Program' was followed by the previous owner.
