Ebay is making a large portion of their profit through PayPal, a bank that has its own rules and has very questionable methods.
Step by Step Ebay took their users option of choosing payment methods away, naturally only to "their own protection". Come on, if I don't want to use PayPal to make a payment and prefer to send the guy a money order - what is wrong about it ? They have to protect me from the risk of losing my money ? Actually I never lost my money when this was possible and I have a rating of almost 300 transactions.
Now I can't place a bid anymore because they are blocking users who refuse to use PayPal. this reminds me of Obama's healthcare program: someone else decides what is good for you.... Why don't they admit "This is about our profit, we don't want you to use alternative payment methods because it means less money for us..."

What "paypal sucks" FAILS to mention..

is that you can use a credit card to pay with your paypal account, and you will have the added protection of any chargebacks your credit card bank allows, and not have to give some random unknown sellers your personal information.
I have been to this 'paypal sucks" website...and all I can determine, is that is is run by someone who was not happy that paypal caught onto their scamming., and cut them off.
Go ahead..go to the site....
PayPalSucks.com <---HERE is the link..click it.
It is a f**kING JOKE> read the blogs first...if you can get through two or three of them without tossing a ling..let me know...it is a bunch of idiots.
Then you can read about the antitrust lawsuit filed in 2005 from 2007 over 10 bucks or so..and if that does not bore you to tears...
Then have fun with the "waiving consumer rights" bullshit..I don;t think ANYTHING on that page is from after 2004 or 2005. Old hat..bored..insignificant and not how things work today with PayPal.
Then next...click on the "PayPal wars",,which leads to this (here is the screen shot..you be the judge...

The power of the consumer...

First of all, eBay does not require every seller to use Paypal. Some of my favorite eBay sellers use their own merchant accounts as an alternative to Paypal. In fact, for items that cost a significant amount of money I prefer not to use Paypal so I seek out sellers who can accept credit cards on their own. I have even negotiated with sellers for smaller items about sending money orders or even picking up the item myself if we're fairly close to each other.
It is also worth noting that Paypal is not a bank and is not under the same regulations that banks must follow. Just go to your preferred search engine and type "Paypal sucks" for more information.
With all of that out of the way, I don't see how you are being ripped off. If eBay did want to require every transaction to go through Paypal, they are entitled to do so as a private company. As a consumer you are free to accept or decline to do business through eBay. If you don't like Paypal, there are plenty of other online sellers and auction sites out there that do not use this service.

Not true..

1) PayPal is not a bank. (unless you are using buyer credit or a PayPal credit card, in which case they are subject to the same EXACT regulations as any bank is)
2) Ebay owns PayPal..they have for years and years.
3) PayPal rules are not questionable, the problems that arise are ONLY by people who do not read the rules, understand the rules, like the rules... or they wish to operate outside the rules (potential scammers).
4) If you send a money order you are taking a HUGE risk. What if you don't receive the item? Why would eBay want to risk giving you any buyer protection if you refuse to pay using their required methods? There are so many scams conducted using money orders that it is not suggested for anyone to purchase online that way. However read the rules below, there are items that can be purchased using money orders.
5) There are other forms of payment allowed, not just PayPal. PayPal is preferred because it offers the best protection for online transactions. Yes, there is a fee for using PayPal but it offers a service and services often cost something.
6) Using eBay is a privilege, not a Right. You are not forced to use eBay. If you don't like their rules don't use them. You have the right to complain, but your complaint should be that you don't like their rules, not that they are scamming money.
eBAY is clear that if you violate the rules your buying and selling PRIVILEGES could be restricted.
Here are the rules and policies for BUYERS..

How
you pay for an item depends partly on what payment methods your seller
accepts. Read the item description before you bid to find out what
payment options you have. Most sellers accept PayPal because it
transfers funds immediately and they can ship your item right away
instead of waiting for funds to clear.
When you're choosing a payment method, look
for options that are convenient for you, secure, and traceable, just in
case there's a problem. Use this table to compare payment methods.

Other payment methods Checks, money orders, and bank wire transfers aren't allowed for most eBay purchases. But sellers can offer these payment methods for certain items in some categories, including Motors, Capital and Business Equipment, Real Estate, and Adult Only. For more on exceptions, see the accepted payments policy. | v Checks and money orders are traceable to a particular mailing address and provide proof of payment. Some money order services may also offer this service. v For bank transfers, payment is deposited immediately into the seller's account. Note: Remember that if you pay by check, your seller will wait for the funds to clear before shipping your item. |
Important: Sellers can't require you to pay using payment methods that aren't allowed on eBay. If your seller wants to change payment methods after the listing has ended, you can insist on paying with one of the methods specified in the seller's original listing.
