STAY FAR AWAY! In January 2015 our furnace broke, Eico was contracted by our home warranty company to fix it and they did, or so we thought. They also recommended us to replace our a/c coil since the unit was 19 years old and it would be cheaper for us to replace it while the furnace was out. This made sense to us so we did. Our furnace heated well but in early May our a/c did not work after it working well in the fall, having the coil replaced, and not working in the spring. I felt there may have been something that needed slight tweaking and calmly asked the woman who answers phones at Eico if they could send someone out to check it out. She became upset that I wondered if there was a mistake and she hung up on me saying she would schedule me but did not know my address, my phone number, or my availability. She told me to "take my business elsewhere".

We had 4 companies and a home inspector look at it and Eico installed the wrong size a/c coil, failed to put in a filter or even a way to put in a filter, used a flex pipe illegally (as stated directly on the warning label on the pipe), and either failed to properly put in freon after coil replacement or stole freon from our system. Our outside a/c unit is a 2 1/2 ton unit and the coil used was 2 ton. The woman at Eico refused to admit that this was the wrong size and even said "we replaced whatever you had before". My question is, even if we had a mismatch before, wouldn't a credible company notify us that we had the wrong part and then correct it rather than replacing wrong with wrong? Secondly, we noticed there was not a filter installed with our furnace, which can cause damage to a unit over time and when I asked the woman about this she said "Every furnace comes with a filter, that is not possible" I stated this one did not and she said "You should have known that a lot sooner than now, that's homeownership 101", but shouldn't it be HVAC 101 to install a furnace with a filter? The "lead tech" even stated none of the furnaces come with filters actually, so we should have been notified. Their fix to this was cutting a large hole in our ductwork and sticking in a filter. They did not secure or seal the filter, it is very clearly shoddy workmanship. The flex pipe they used on our home was not properly installed and it is not gas tight, which can lead to home explosions. The other 4 HVAC companies, a home inspector, and the warning label on the pipe itself says it cannot be installed the way they had it. The woman still refuses to acknowledge that it was wrong and that they put the lives of my family and my neighbors at risk with this mistake. When I confronted the danger of the issue, she said "but your house hasn't exploded yet!" They came and installed hard pipe but not before I had to use 2-10 to get Eico to fix it, they denied me service because I posted on facebook detailing the troubles I have had with them and they did not like being held accountable.

We also have written documentation from Eico stating we have a freon leak and that was why our a/c was not working. At this point we have learned that everything Eico has done has been wrong so we had another company come out to check it. It was verified that we in fact do NOT have a leak, but we did not have any freon. We were informed that during the process of replacing a coil that freon is moved and then it is to be recharged after the coil is replaced. We found out that the only way for freon to escape a system without a leak is for it to be taken out. So not only did Eico fail to everything, they told us we had a leak when we did not. When I called Eico to tell them we do not have a leak and we want to be refunded for the freon that was taken for our system, she said that  she will subpoena the work done on our a/c because she thinks we patched it then told someone we did not have a leak. My husband and I wanted Eico to pay for the installation of the new and properly sized coil as well as refund us for the missing freon whether missing by mistake or crime. We pursued this settlement with the assistance of 2-10 and they denied, telling us to take them to court. Which we will, and we have an appointment with a lawyer.I have video recordings, phone call recordings, documentation from Eico with signatures with the incorrect dx and several documentations from other companies and home inspectors that say their work is incorrect.I attempted to be kind and let Eico simply write a check and be done with us, but they did not cooperate, so now they will be facing the full extent of the law as well as news media coverage because we have it recorded on camera that Eico states they use the dangerous flex pipe in people's homes on a regular basis, so everyone in or around a home Eico has worked on could be in danger of explosion. Be very aware of this unscrupulous company.
