Not long ago, one of the cheap televisions we used at the family business crapped out, so we decided to have it repaired. After researching the problem and using a good part from one of the other units we had to verify the diagnosis, I proceeded to shop for a working MUT board online. Every other store I could find was out of stock except for "ETVParts.com"/Electron Resort, so we ordered the part through them.

Upon attaching the board to the TV, we found that it was defective in a different way than the original. Disappointed, we requested a return and refund. Upon doing so, Electron Resort demanded we fill out a multi-page form and diagnose what was wrong with their part. On top of that, they were going to make us pay the return shipping and a restocking fee. Why should we have to pay a restocking fee for an item that should not be in stock in the first place?! Return shipping should not be our responsibility either, nor should diagnosing someone else's problem (not everyone can troubleshoot problems at the component level anyway).

The good news is that PayPal, as annoying as they can be sometimes, has an effective way of dealing with these kinds of crooks. One phone call to them was all it took to get Electron Resort to accept our return and refund the full purchase price. This ended well for us, but I'd bet that the majority of Electron Resort's victims don't know that PayPal (or credit card company) disputes are an option.
