I bought a 2005 used vehicle and added the Elite Standard Warranty program based on recommendation from dealer, and based on a recent experience with another used car I bought.  The plan home page states coverage Day One, but actually will not cover anything for 90 days.  That was okay.  So, I start hearing a noise coming from the engine compartment and investigate as best I could what might be the cause.  It sounded like an serpentine belt Idler pulley, so took it to a mechanic.  They found nothing, but charged me for looking (standard op procedure).  I check with Elite.  No coverage for that.

Problem continues and finally, I figure it is coming from Power Steering pump.  I take it to mechanic today and get estimate.  I then call Colen Sweeten, Manager at Elite, about whether they will cover the repairs of this item.  NOPE.

So, I decide to query deeper into what they do cover.  Internal lubricated parts of engine and trans, plus alternator, water pump.  Stuff that seldom ever breaks.  So I ask for my money back.  NOPE.  Won't refund anything after 10 days.  That note is embedded in very indetectable small print on the edge of the contract, in cryllic language, I guess.  As an earlier complainant stated, I have never used the warranty, so they have not had to pay out a cent on the contract, so they lose nothing.  As with most insurance things, they take, but don't ever try to collect.

I asked Colen why cover alternator and not cover power steering or steering components.  His comment, "That's the way the contract is written!"  Duh!

Coverage Options Are Available

AUTHOR: bryce - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, July 11, 2012

As a warranty company we have many options for warranty coverage. We have the option for day one coverage for an additional charge, as well as coverage that will cover the power steering pump. You cannot hold our company responsible for your choice in coverage. This is and was your choice.....not ours. It is interesting how customers get upset because they choose not to have certain coverage, and then blame us for their choice. Also as for the 10 day cancellation it is on the second page very plain not hidden in any way.

This is a simple case of the customer not reading or understanding the agreement between us and them, again not our fault. Colon is very professional and helps thousands of customers daily. sounds like a problem existed long before this customer meet Colon via phone. There comes a point when a customer needs to take responsibility for their own actions, and not blame others for your choices. Our company has been in business for 16 years, and has an "A" rating with the better business bureau because we take care of our customers.

No Valid Customer Service Oriented Company has a 10 day Cancellation Policy

AUTHOR: soccernut - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, April 04, 2012

Ok.  So you print the Cancellation Policy on the contract somewhere, yet you say we can't use the policy for 90 days, as anything used in this period is considered pre-existing.  So, we don't even have a chance to be dissatisfied until 80 days past the time we can cancel.

Great contract for you.  Nothing for consumer to do but pay for a piece of paper that isn't good for anything.

Cyrillic

AUTHOR: Bubba Lee - (Canada)

POSTED: Wednesday, April 04, 2012

Use of the Cyrillic alphabet is not legal on a contract anywhere in north america.

Cyrillic is the alphabet used for Russian and several other languages.

Maybe the OP ment Itallics?

Simply Not True

AUTHOR: CHS - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, April 04, 2012

I'm sorry that Mr Les Filonowich is unhappy with his warranty purchase. As he stated in his complaint, once he read the contract, he found out the problems he is having are not covered by the contract that he purchased. So he is frustrated.

Also the complaint about the cancellation policy is simply not true. The cancellation policy is printed in the same font size (not "indetectable small print on the edge of the contract, in cryllic language") as the rest of the contract and has a bolded heading "Cancellation of this contract".

The contract clearly lists the items covered and also states items NOT listed are not covered.
