My son purchased a used car from Emmons Motor Company about four years ago. His salesman's name was Bill, a tall skinny, blonde headed smart a*s. Anyway my son got in trouble with the law and was incarcerated for about 3 months, and I could not make his car payments for him so BILL came out a reposessed the car and I was told that since it was almost paid off they would hold the car for him until he got out of jail. Now when BILL picked up the car I told him to make sure and lock the car up because it had over $1,000.00 worth of stereo equipment in it. There was even stereo equipment mounted in the trunk.

I tried to take the face-plate off of the stereo and BILL would not let me, he said I would have to put the original stereo in it (right then) or leave that face plate in the car. Anyway, forwarned that he was, he leaves with the car and said he would take care of the car and lock it up. When my son gets out of jail we go to pick up the car and all of the stereo equipment is gone. Even the 4 speakers mounted in the front doors were gone and there were just holes in the door. The stuff mounted in the trunk just ripped out, even the trunk liner was gone.

Well I later found out that Bill had been fired several times since then, apparently he has a CRACK COCAINE problem, and another customer told me that he had stole her wallet out of her purse when he test drove her car she was trying to sale them. This guy is a disgrace to this company and by the way he is once again working there. The company would probably not be a bad place but they really need to get rid of this theif that works for him. I would have filed a police report but by the time we had went to pick up the car about 3 months had gone by. And also the owner had told me that BILL had not been authorized to pick up the car in the first place. After all that equipment was stolen by there salesperson, BILL, they still did not reimburse me or take off any money on our balance. I would not recomend this place to anyone after this.

INTERNAL INVESTIGATION PROVED NO THEFT

AUTHOR: Emmons Motor Company - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, December 20, 2008

The customer who wrote the Rip-Off Report was also a customer of the dealership before she herself had her own vehicle repossessed. I'm sure the experience of having a vehicle repossessed (regardless of the reason) would leave a distaste in anyone's mouth. Our dealership gave her son a little over 3 months to gather the money needed to pick up his car that had been repossessed. This time frame is far beyond what is required by law. Because we had empathy for the family and the hardships they had encountered, we graciously tried many different methods and payment plans to help our customer retain his vehicle.

At one point, we had agreed to accept $25 a week. Even this was a payment schedule that he would not consistently adhere to. Therefore, the dealership had no choice but to finalize the repo proceedings. The stereo equipment was stolen from the vehicle when it was stored at a nearby storage lot. The storage facility is also used by the dealership on occasion to store the overflow inventory. In addition to the theft of our customer's stereo equipment, our dealership sufferred collateral damage as well to a majority of its vehicles stored at that time. Because of the pattern and the characteristics of the crime, we believed that this was not an inside job.

However, Emmons Motor Company did launch our own internal investigation which led us to believe that no current employee was involved. The storage facility had agreed to waive the storage fees that were accumulated due to the break-in and the customer was made aware of that. Regarding the statement that the salesperson Bill had stolen a customer's wallet while appraising her vehicle, the dealership found no findings or reports filed by any customer regarding theft while his employment at our dealership. Bill is not currently employed at Emmons.
