If your looking for a JDM engine, you would do best to shop somewhere else.  Or, if you can't find it anywhere else, make sure you understand their terms of sale.

I had second thoughts the moment after I entered my credit card info, but let it go.  Less than an hour later the company contacted me for photo copies of my credit card, and possibly, I don't recall, my drivers license.  I already had negative feelings about these folks, so told them to forget it, I wasn't faxing anything, and they could cancel the engine order.  I ended up being screamed at by a guy I think was the owner.  He said he was going to keep 20% restocking fee.  I told him that was unrealistic, nothing came out of stock, nothing moved, he was out no money and was just trying to take advantage of me, and that I wasn't going to continue with the screaming match, I'd deal with my credit card company.

The short story is that he wouldn't credit the sale until forced to by Visa.  He had 30 days to do so, but Visa finally had to credit the amount 40 days after the sale.  2 months after all of this he ships another engine, which my mechanic refuses. He then charges me the freight out and freight back ($250.00) for something I had cancelled and received a Visa credit for.

He then appealed to Visa and got a 20% cancellation fee put back on my account. Because his contract is so poorly written, the credit card company says they can't fight him on this cancellation charge. They were great, and gave me a courtesy credit for almost the total amount. They also agree that the $250.00 freight charge is indefensible, and are crediting that transaction.

Folks there are better sources for JDM engines out there. People who write clear contracts, and offer good service. If you must get something in used, read that contract super carefully because once he has your credit card, he'll use every trick he can to grab and hold on to your money!

More trouble from Sleazy Engine World USA

AUTHOR: Unhappy in St Petersburg - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 09, 2010

I just heard from my credit card company, again. This company not only fought the restocking fee, but then shipped an engine 2 months after the cancellation and the battle over the cancellation fee started. They did it in full knowledge that I had cancelled the order, and that we were in dispute over a restocking fee.  How can a company be entitled to a cancellation fee, and also freight, for something that was not shipped (AND REFUSED) until two months after they were aware the order was cancelled.

Now they are attempting to collect freight charges (OUT & BACK) on something they never should have shipped.  My credit card company says the only way they can protect me against this company, now that they have my credit card number, is to treat it as fraud (which is what it is) is to cancel my cards and reissue new credit card numbers. So, I've stopped these people from stealing more money, but I have to go through a bunch of trouble changing auto payment numbers at some of my accounts to do it.  Nice people to do business with. Right?

I THINK ANYONE SHOULD BE SURE THERE'S NO OTHER, POSSIBLE, SOURCE FOR AN ENGINE THEY NEED BEFORE GETTING INVOLVED WITH THIS COMPANY. THESE PEOPLE ARE THE WORST I HAVE EVERY DEALT WITH FOR ANY PURCHASE, ANYWHERE, ANYTIME!

complaint is a hoax

AUTHOR: Mike Jag - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, November 04, 2010

The complaint is a hoax, untrue and contains false information. We have a very clean policy. When people buy from our website it clearly mentions that our warranty covers only Engine Replacement if it is defective but does not allow any refunds or returns after purchase. Our warranty very clearly & explicitly mentions that if the sale is cancelled by the customer before shipment there is a cancellation charge of 20%. The reporting customer filed a charge-back with his credit card that he lost, then he filed a Pre-Arbitration case with his credit card and he lost that too. Credit Card merchants verified that our terms & conditions mentioned on the warranty were clearly available at the time item was purchased and the customer could decide not to buy the engine. Customer filled out the credit card form at the following link of our website : http://www.usedjapanmotors.com/sendmail.aspx . The credit card form has a warranty screen that clearly mentions our term. Our Policies are very clear and all our sales are processed through proper click-through procedure acceptable to all credit card merchants. Credit card merchant found our terms to be loud & clear and decided to rule in our favour.

We have all supporting documentation to substantiate and vindicate the claim. Once the engine is sold we work hard on preparing the engine, one must not forget that we sell tested engines. We have good reputation. We are # 1 on Google, Yahoo, Msn & bind if you type Japanese engines, Honda engines etc on all search engines. Immediately after engine is sold the order goes to the warehouse so engine is prepared for shipment. One must also not forget that from the moment order is placed we incur expenses. Payments received by credit card incur 3% fee which is charged by a merchant and there is additional 3% charged by them for each refund transaction. The cancellation fee is to justify our work.

In the end we did not do anything wrong by charging what was clearly informed the customer at the time of purchase.

We request the ripoff report site administrator to contact us for more details. We request him to hear both sides of the story.

Thanks
