This company billed my Verizon account for a service that I did not order or authorize. I called Verizon and they said that they were only a billing agent and said I had to deal with ESBI. I called ESBI and they claim that I signed up for the service through a web site. I said I did not. They agree to close the account and issue a credit through Verizon but It would take 2-4 billing cycles for the refund. I wonder if I will ever see it. I again called Verizon and am trying to get them to put a block on my account to prevent future billing from this company. I can't believe that Verizon allows this to happen. It seems that they don't care or the profit from thierd party billing is to great.

Update on Verizon response

AUTHOR: No name - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, July 22, 2008

Called Verizon today to verify that the third party billing block was placed. They had no record of the request. I again asked for the block for the fourth time. This time I got an order number to confirm the request. so much for customer service.

They placed what they called a claim against the EMSI bill so that I was not responsible for paying it until EMSI responded. However they still billed my credit card (i have automatic billing) for the charge. They charged my card on July 17 even though the bill was due July 29. WTF!

I called my credit card company and disputed the charge. They agreed to refund they disputed amount. I canceled automatic billing by Verizon and switch to paper statements untill this mess is corrected.

I also filed a complaint with the FCC. I urge everyone to do this. Until companies are held accountable, this type of practice will continue.

Followup on ESBI and response by Verizon

AUTHOR: No name - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, July 16, 2008

After much discussion, Verizon agreed to place a block on my account to prevent future billing. They even contacted ESBI which stated that they closed my account and will issue a refund. However, Verizon refuses to remove the charge even though it will not be charged to my credit report for another 2 weeks. Poor customer service in my mind. Now I have to dispute this future charge with my credit card company.
