Ethan Allen ripoff Three month old mattress with 3' high lump in the middle of king size bed, running from the foot of the bed to the head. Company claims mattress does not meet their criteria to be labelled "defective." Will not replace. Danbury Connecticut

Walk into my home and you will notice that my formal dining and living areas as well as my bedroom are all furnished with Ethan Allen products. However I am sincerely disappointed in the customer service we have received in the last six weeks.

In June 2004, we purchased a bed, box spring and mattress, two night stands and another small table for our bedroom. My husband noticed that the mattress was significantly higher by 3 in the middle of the bed and running the entire length of the bed. We wondered if it was caused by improper installation and called for a representative from Ethan Allen in Portland to investigate our problem in August 2004. He took pictures, said the bed mattress was defective and indicated that someone would contact us.

We have been sleeping on the mattress for approximately three months and it has a 3 high lump in the middle of it that runs from the foot of the bed to the head of the bed. I am questioning the validity of your warranty and the alleged superior customer service that your company has formerly been known. It was our understanding when we purchased the mattress that it had a 15 year warranty.

The bed has been visually inspected and photographed by an Ethan Allen representative, however my son reported that the Ethan Allen representative did not physically measure the defect. I question the validity of the inspection and dispute the inspectors report.
