I have direct deposit of my unemployment check to Wachovia Bank (Wells Fargo). Today I called the automated number for my bank to see if my deposit was available, and the system told me I had a bounced check number 2226 for $30 which was presented for payment on 12/27/10. I do not use checks, so I asked what company or individual this was made out to and they told me EZ Loan Protection. I have never heard of this company and never authorized any type of transaction with them. When I called the number 888-897-8045 their system had me on hold for 30 minutes. I finally spoke to a young lady who asked for my credit card number...I told her I wasn't giving out that information. I gave her the first 4 digits and last 4 digits. Then she said she doesn't have me listed in her database. When I told her I was reporting their company to fraud reporting websites and the FBI, she still wouldn't acknowledge the charge. I told her Well, isn't this EZ Loan Protection? She said, "We have 12 companies. EZ loan is not one of them" but when I went to the website http://www.ezloanprotection.com there was the same phone number listed that I was calling. I immediately called my bank, but they said they have no way to block any charges from this company to my account. So in the meantime, when my unemployment deposit is made, when I go to withdraw funds for groceries, rent, or living expenses, I have to be afraid that EZ Loan Protection is going to debit my account before I get to the bank. Please, someone do something about this.

But HOW did they get your bank account info in the first place?

Think about this. How did they get your bank account in the first place? And, your debit card is NOT a credit card and should never be used like one. NEVER use your debit card # online or over the phone! NEVER DO THIS, as they can clean you out, and/or cause lots of bounced checks and nsf fees. NEVER give your bank account info to anyone that you don't have an established business relationship with. After all, they could not have charged your account if YOU didn't at some point give out your info.

Just common sense here.

After I filed complaints with Consumer Affairs, IC3 (Internet Crime Bureau) Ripoff Reports and other complaint websites, I got an email from someone at support@ezloanprotection.com this morning that they are removing me from their files and no more charges will be made. Let's see what happens.
