I started with RCI-Fairfield Resorts - located in Margate, Florida back in 2002 as a call center rep for Equivest members - Cendant had purchase the Equivest properties points club as well - It was pretty clear as to what was going on with the points and the process in which they wanted all Equivest members to switch over to FSP (Fairshare Plus) membership - good plan, if your good at it and follow the guidelines -

I then transferred over to the Fairfield Resort headquarters, located in Orlando in hopes of a better working environment and possibly a future with Cendant my job function was Owners Services, I would help dissatisfied members and owners with their request for cancellation on previous contracts or new contracts, basically identified as buyers remorse believe me, we would received many letters of cancellation the problem is, most states have a 3 day clause for backing out, some are 5 days and the sale person(s) almost never advise the potential buyer of their rights

most people attend the free weekend stay and see the presentation and try to resist the temptation of buying the timeshare can't get a loan, don't worry, Fairfield has their own loan department that's why so many people are involved in timeshares the sale person makes it so attractive that it's impossible to back away What they don't tell you is that the units are already full with owners and members that it's next to impossible to get the week your requesting even though they tell you it's no problem NOT! -

Although you are allowed to cancel within the legal timeline and depending on what state you're currently in at the time of the sale the problem? The contracts are lost in the transit and by the time you locate a person within the Fairfield Corporation, the time has past and your now in for a rough ride in trying to cancel. I spent a lot of time speaking to members and reading their letters it's sad, most of the people should have never even been allowed a loan

But, once Fairfield gets the contract and you default, they go after you (they have their own collections department!)- One more thing, by the time you write out the first check for the initial contract signing, your check has cleared, your account is already set-up for billing purposes and all done in 3 days of the signing! Think before you go to these so call 3-day weekends Nothing is free!

So, let's see, you default, you sell back to Fairfield at a lost and they turn around and re-sell it for another profit!

Charles, you are so right!

AUTHOR: Jim - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, April 24, 2005

My spouse worked for the comapny in one of their call centers until she was terminated for leaving a meeting where she was being singled out and harrassed by the site manager. The company is a rip-off. Let me give you some examples:

1. Bently Brook offers a package for those who take the tour where they give a $1K on line shopping spree. Sound good? Until you find that you have to pay S&H on most items that is rediculious and that many items never seem to be available.

2. I recently stayed at one fo their properties. The owners I spoke with at this one and on another exchange in Conn. were very dissatisfied with the company. Seems they have trouble getting into even their home resort, yet alone any other FF property. they can get exchanges thru RCI, but not always when or where they want, just as many other are unable to do. But they own with a timeshare comapny whose parent compnay owns RCI. You'd think that the "home team" would be better taken care of.

3. FF has started to charge points for many items of use at the properties, like points for cleaning and maid service on a weekly stay. MAny owners are no longer able to get that "extra time" they were promised for their points when downgrading accomidations as they were promised when they purcahsed.
I could go on but I think you get the point.

Now, this site is for people to share their experiences. I do not agree or disagree with what they have to say. After all, this is America, and having served in the military for 20+ years, it's your right and mine to say what we feel. That's freedom of expression and I spent my time defending it.

As for my former employee spouse, she has been denied unemployment benifits,e ven though she was terminated for "abandonemnt." I can't find that in the employee handbook anywhere. But then, there is an appeal process even for unemployment denials.

As for anyone thinking of buying, think long and hard. If the offer I received while on my recent exchange is any indication of what they have to offer, they are over priced and have high maintance fees.

My advice to you is, that unless you have some really compelling reason to buy on the retial market, you need to check out the resale sites. Just go to your search engine and tipe in timeshare resales. Pick a site. And of course, there is mt favorite, e-bay. I've gotten some swet deals there. In fact, the same property i was offered at 10K for an every other year in Mass., is listed there and on redweek.com for 4K or less. Yeah, you have to do some work, and you can insure your purchase thru Chicago Tile Company, but for the price, even if you only use it three years and give it to a charity and take the write off, you still come out way ahead of the 10 year break even point on most retail sales.

Just my humble opinion. And please, forgive my spelling. I can't spell check on this site.

Proper english? Fired?

AUTHOR: Charles - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, April 21, 2005

Well, Don - If you really want to get technical, it's use of proper grammar and look, it's a message board, not an essay I'm not trying to win an award - At any rate, just for the record, I wasn't fired I actually left my position to work for another company I had a 1 yr. contract with Fairfield (after leaving RCI) and left for many reasons - this company is hurting people financially, plain and simple - it's easy to just say we are disgruntle employees when speaking the truth. I guess your upset because of my ENGLISH right? Let's tyr to stick with the issue at hand and use this board for just that not your arrogant and petty remarks concerning my use of proper english what do you know? Your living in Pompano, not Boca you see, you made me go there - :)

Fairfield Stinks I NEED TO BE FREE AND I DON"T WANT TO PAY FAIRFIELD TO GET IT

AUTHOR: Fabyonne - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, April 06, 2005

No matter what Don or anyone else says, I HATE FAIRFIELD! I am one of the foolish unsatisfied owners in Fairfield resorts who has a noose around her neck and can never EVER get out. I've been stuck for 9 years now. YES IS SAID 9 years now!

My daughter was eaten by bed bugs, lost by their day camp, and I've been lied to by every employee we've ever encountered yet they won't let us out of this contract. I NEED TO BE FREE AND I DON"T WANT TO PAY FAIRFIELD TO GET IT! I hate the company, and everything about it. If they call you change your number, move out, do whatever you can but don't respond because you'll be stuck like me. I implore you DON'T LISTEN TO THEM!

Don, tell me how you figure?

AUTHOR: J - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, April 01, 2005

Where does it say Charles was fired? I don't see that in his post. All it says is that he's a former employee.
Much of what he says is true. Try and get out of a contract once you signed. After 2+ hours of sales pitches, you jsut wanna get out of there, so you really don't pay attention,a nd if you fail to go back to your room and read....
By the way, you still haven't let us know who's paying your salary to write on these boards. You sure seem to have a lot of interest in what's written here by those who have had a bad expereince with Fairfiled Resorts.

YOU WERE FIRED WHY? Disgruntled employees often make statements that are untrue

AUTHOR: Don - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, March 26, 2005

Obviously you were fired from fairfield. I wonder if it had anything to do with your english. Disgruntled employees often make statements that are untrue...we all have felt a little angry at former employers but, this is too much! Most of the statements made in your report have nothing to do with ripping off anyone. In fact, you even warn against making decisions beyond your means...that was the only positive I got out of it. Furthermore. if you're going to "rip" on a company, do it with proper english or don't do it at all!
