FingerHut, probably due to a failed electronic billing system, did not email me a billing statement, nor send a payment due reminder for two billing cycles.

I was made aware of this when I received an alert from a credit monitoring service that my credit scores dropped significantly due to the reporting of my delinquent payment to the national Credit Reporting Agencies.

Clown?

AUTHOR: Robert - (United States)

POSTED: Friday, April 09, 2021

The only clown is the one who has to be reminded that they owe a bill after they bought something on credit.

The only clown is the one who still failed to answer this one very simple question that has been asked several times. Since you bought items on credit, when did you think you would have to pay them back?

The only clown is the one who doesn't realize why that is an important question. The only clown is the one who doesn't take this as a lesson and takes more responsibility for their accounts in the future.

Since I don't talk to clowns, this has gone about as far as it can go.

Good Luck...

Robert Must Work For FingerHut

AUTHOR: Calvin - (United States)

POSTED: Wednesday, April 07, 2021

Robert, commenting as a "Consumer", has to much time on his hands and is wayyyyy to invested in this matter, to be merely a "consumer". I get the weird suspicion that Robert is an employee or somehow affiliated with FingerHut. He cares wayyyyy too much about a matter that doesn't concern him. Robert, do me a favor, GET LOST!

You proved one thing.

How do you know the billing system didn't fail?
- And how do you know it did? Exactly.....They could have sent an e-mail but it may have been sent to your spam folder. You could have gotten it and deleted it thinking it was junk. They could have mailed it but you could have again thrown it away thinking it was junk mail.

Your lack of accepting responsibility for your own finances has basically proven why you are with a Sub Prime card.

It is quite convenient that you ignored the question as to when did you actually think you needed to pay the bill. The "Oh I didn't know the bill existed" is quite a nice story with the exception of one thing. You bought the items in credit and unless you really want people to believe that you didn't think you would have to pay them back..you did know there was a bill out there.

As for the FCRA. One thing that is a constant with Sub-Prime borrowers. They will spend more time looking for loopholes and excuses as to why they should not be held responsible, than if they just took responsibility for their accounts in the first place. You would have to prove that they intentionally didn't send you a bill or make it available to you, but that would also mean that they singled you out....and you aren't that important to them. For something like this to make any sort of impact on their bottom line, they would need several thousand people to fall for this...EVERY MONTH.

Oh, and sorry to burst your bubble, but like you, I am just a member of the PUBLIC and at no time have I worked for this or any other bank. In fact, I have never even been a customer of Fingerhut(They were always overpriced and I never needed them to build my credit).

Can't Pay A Bill That You Don't Know Exists

AUTHOR: Calvin - (United States)

POSTED: Wednesday, April 07, 2021

Sir, do you work for FingerHut? How do you know the billing system didn't fail? Exactly, you don't. A company cannot fail to bill or notify a consumer that monies are due on an account, then when payment is not received report the payment late to the CRAs. This is what FingerHut did, in violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

It wasn't the billing system that failed

AUTHOR: Robert - (United States)

POSTED: Tuesday, April 06, 2021

Their billing system didn't fail. You are the one who made the purchase. It is your account and your responsibility to make sure you make the payments. For it to be reported to the Credit Reporting Agencies it would have been at least 30 days and likely closer to 60 days since you made the purchase. When exactly did you think you had to pay for the items you bought?

If your "excuse" is that you have too many bills to keep track of, then you shouldn't be buying things on credit. If you didn't get the statement you should have taken the responsibility to contact them and find out how to make a payment.

Trying to pass off this responsibility is probably the main reason you need to rely on a "Second Chance" Sub Prime store credit card.
